The UI blues... or not!Follow

So with all the changes in GU57, I needed to update my UI but after downloading and installing the latest version of THOR I spent almost two full play sessions adjusting, rearranging and adapting to the new elements. After two days, I finally gave up and went shopping at EQ2Interface, looking for another option. I know a lot of people like profit but it's just never made the cut for me.

Anyway, after a bit of perusal I found DrumsUI and after dropping it into the folder and then playing for a couple hours I'm pretty happy. I still might opt out and replace a few little things (like the compass) but by and large, everything looks pretty nice right out of the gate.

With THOR I had a bunch of windows that I disliked enough to find alternatives for (like bags, broker & crafting windows) but with DrumsUI, everything is clean and sleek...

What about y'all... are you happy with your UI and what do you run with?

I used default forever and ever and ever.. until yesterday. I also grabbed DrumsUI (funny, eh?), it definitely reminds me of a more clear-cut version of the default. Not sure if I'll remain happy with it but it's not too bad so far. Smiley: lol

My only issue is eq2maps has some *wierd* icons showing up, like for POIs and zone lines and mob markers now. I can't figure out how to get rid of them.

Dolby mentioned something about the POI's on the maps not working yet... or something. I have it in a log somewhere, lol.

I'm still good with the default UI. My old layout actually converted really well. And when I get a new toon, I just copy my main's UI over to it :)

I've always used the default UI with EQ2Maps tacked on. This new UI doesn't bother me. I shrunk down the HUGE exp bar, turned on my compass and clock and I'm good to go. The red doesn't bother me like it bothers a lot of people.

I'd be happy with the new default UI except for the inventory.

But my favorite change so far is the automatic update of skills on my hot bar. That is so yay!

Honestly? I find the automatic update annoying. Several of the new spells will not be better than the master version I have, spending some time at 80 I do have a fair amount of masters, there's even no adept version better than the old master version.

Granted, that's just for my main though, and lower levels don't have that problem as they don't tend to have masters. Experts perhaps, but not many masters.

Other than that, the default UI is good enough for me, a bit too WoWish at first glance though.

I'm always happy to take player feedback into consideration, as it has shaped 90% of the UI to what it is today.

Zeiv, Rothgar posted that they're aware that the automatic overwrite isn't working like it's supposed to. On some spells, if you get an app that's weaker than a lower level expert, master, whatever, it won't overwrite, it'll drop into another hotbar slot, which is what it's supposed to do. But some weaker spells *are* overwriting the stronger ones. And sometimes a new spell will overwrite a totally different spell, haha. Ah... GU's, gotta love 'em. Anyway, they're working on it so that any higher level spell that's weaker than the lower level version won't overwrite automatically.

Aye, hopefully that's fixed soon, Nadenu. I really would just like an option to disable spell overwriting altogether--can see it being nice pre-20s or pre-30s, but in the higher levels it's like we're being swaddled. Smiley: wink

Drumstix--I'm just a picky person, sometimes I get really set on a ui feature so something drastically different irks me. ;) I did replace a few windows back with the default (like crafting, bank, guild bank) but overall it's still a really nice ui. Got my husband using select pieces from it too--both of our favorites are the start/stat bar and the triple exp bar. Smiley: grin

I haven't used DrumsUI, though I'll certainly check it out. What I miss most about ProfitUI is the easy broker interface - having everything on one screen, in particular, and the button that let me choose my current character's level and class for looking stuff up. And the smaller hotbar icons. And some other stuff.

I like Fetish but the Nightfall skin is a bit dark for my taste.

Really all I require is a better broker interface, smaller hotbars, and a heal/cure timer for my druid.

Very big Fetish fan here... It's a great UI. Clean, clear and very flexible with some very helpful features. Zonx is also very active updating it to keep it current with the GUs.

I tried DrumsUI over the weekend, and I really like it. Finally, my hotbars stay put.
