Question about gear? Weapons?Follow

#1 Apr 29 2010 at 5:39 PM Rating: Decent
Hey All

I was a long time everquest player who left eq2 for wow a long time ago. One of the main reasons for this was me being a huge fan of graphics. While eq2 has better graphics then wow in some things I always liked how wow had many different armor sets and weapons and everyone looked different in wow. Seemed like eq2 everyone looked the same except for the fact you can color your armor. Now I can not even look at wow without being bored and want to come back to eq2 but cant do it unless they have made strides with armor and gear looking unique. SO my long winded question is.... Is there a site that actually shows images of gear and weapons? SO I can do some research?

Thanks for your time.

EQ2 traders has graphics for all the player crafted sets and they show each in both male & female versions. Dropped armor is going to be a little tougher but you could always fire up the free trial and then use the dressing room with the broker to look at different armor items until your eyeballs fall out!

One thing I noticed, it's EQ 1 that you can dye your armor, not in EQ 2.

Anyway like OBD said, your best bet is look on the broker for items that you might like. Also keep in mind there are many appearance items in the game. Last year we also got appearance weapons. So it's virtually impossible to look like another player now.

I was impressed when I noticed the Appearance slots. So if you like the looks of that gimpy low-level robe you can just throw that on over the silly-looking stat tunic.

Hell, I even indulge in a bit of role-playing and take off the fashionable robe so as not to get it dirty when I'm on a harvesting run.

By the way, anyone with a ZAM login can upload pics to the item pages (or mob pages, etc).

1. Go to the item page.
2. If there is a database entry, click the "Screenshot" tab, then "Add Image" over on the right. Example
3. If there is no data base entry, click the "Media" link, then "Add Image" on the right. Example

Images cropped to a square work best, and there's tools on the upload page to crop and resize. If you like your image better than the one showing, an admin has to promote it; PM one of us :) When a db entry imports, we can move the media tab image to the db.

edit: Sorry Cal, had to migrate one of those items :)

In case you didn't know, hold the Ctrl key & click on an item to see it in the 'dressing room'. This works for stuff on the broker, or items linked in chat, without you having to buy it. Armour & weapons will be displayed on your character, merged into your current appearance. You can also view (but not wear!) home items the same way.

A lot of work has been done to pretty-up armour sets recently. In addition to the normal stat-laden battling stuff, there are a lot of appearance-only items. I'm not sure how long the OP has been away, but we now have appearance slots (available after level 20?). To equip in appearance slots, you still need to be at least the level of the item, the right class if applicable, and will need to attune attunable stuff, even though you will not get any of the stat bonuses. At least you no longer have to put up with manky-looking armour because you're wearing it for the stats.

As OBD says, EQ Traders is the best site for galleries of player-craftable and (some) faction clothing.
