I logged back into the game. I haven't played the game since shortly after the Desert of Flame expansion came out. Never really even played it.

Going to give it a shot. I love WoW, I really do, but I need something different... if only for a little bit.

Figure I'll start off with a new toon and get used to the controls..

Does anyone know if the most recent xpac includes all the previous ones?

Yes, Sentinel's Fate includes absolutely EVERYTHING that came before it. If you use your old account you may even have Veteran's Rewards waiting for you!

Welcome back to Norrath!

Thanks!

I'll have to take a look at the purchase price of sentinels fate. Is there a big difference between buying digital download vs. instore (i.e. in game perks).

And yes - I had MANY bonuses sitting there for my new toon :-)

edit: i'm impatient - i just went ahead and got the digital download of the all in one - didn't see much difference.

Ill be playing on Crushbone, since the few surviving members of my guild are there.

The biggest difference that I can think of was that the retail Collector's Edition had a special mount in it.

A lot has changed in the years you've been gone--for the better, I think! I came back a couple of years ago and haven't left since. The game is growing nicely and many changes have been done to make it friendly to all play styles.

Welcome back! :)

I've been playing full time for about a year now. I've been an on and off player since launch. And I'm having more fun with this game than I've had with any game. I got off work early today and all I could think about was "yay! More game time!!"

OMG addict.

And to the OP: welcome back. I find EQ2 a much more interesting game than WoW, maybe because like you I took a long break while they rearranged things.

So far so good - started up a new Dirge.

Game is much more challenging and slower paced than wow. I'm used to having to hit a plethora of macros every second on Wow to max out DPS - with cooldowns I don't see that being the case as much here.

Joined up on a guild on my server, good to have some people to talk with.

I still love me some WoW - but for different reasons - I love gaming as a whole - so I'll find a way to split my attention between games!

Welcome back. And I must say dirges rock! The game style changes depending on if you are soloing or grouping, making you really think and sometimes plan. But if raiding is even a remote possibility in your mind later on, dirges are absolutely fantastic and much loved for their buffs (and is you play well they can do some very decent DPS too)

I finally did cancel both my WoW subs. I was reluctant to do it, because I love my WoW guild and had so much fun playing for so long; but after I hadn't logged in for the third straight month it seemed kinda silly to keep it active.

But who knows? Maybe I'll go back and check out the changes at some point.

here's one of those "at least I'm thinking ahead" moments in my gaming life...

but trying to figure out which 7 tradeskills I will take for my characters - I belive I got an extra slot from "something" when I bought the game long before.

*sigh* - I can see having a use for all of them - and since the crafting process itself seems to be the same from Trade to Trade, it's not like it plays differentl. I think I'm to the point where I just need to pick randomly

If your goal is to provide stuff your char will use, that should inform your decision a bit. If you want to make money, I can tell you that my carpenter (house stuff) and my provisioner (food and drink) make decent money for little effort.

Sages, Alchemists, and Jewelers are also very hot right now...but more so for the demand of higher level players who want spells. Any of those professions start out slow...but it seems to be very common for any of them to have you provide the rare (that I agree with), and to still ask for a larger than required tip (that I don't agree with).

I've seen 80+ crafters asking for 2p or more for a tip. For necro spells for example:
-20pp or more for the rare
-around 20g for all the materials needed if you have to buy them
-1 minute to make

I understand its supply and demand, and everyone wants to make a profit. Still its insane..yet they get the tips they want.

Provisioner is my only crafter and I love the steady flow of income. It's been that way at all levels too. That's not even counting the rare recipes that do indeed cost and sell for more than other items. Plus if you tend to use a lot of food/drink for personal use it really saves you quite a bit of money making your own food versus buying it.

I'm *this* close to just splurging on the station access account - it'd give me 5 extra slots so in the end it wouldn't really matter - I'd be able to do all 9....

I'd also get to go back and take a look at EQ1 again - and play some free realms. I could also try the other games for ha-ha's.

IMO it's still debatable whether Station Access is worth it just for EQ2 character slots... but if you plan on playing more than one SOE game it's definitely the way to go!

I have to admit, I got Station Access because I hop over and play Vanguard every now and then. Smiley: blush

Ok, so I gave in. I upgraded to the Station Access, I figure that way, I get the 12 character slots, i get to go back and play EQ again as well, I get to try Vanguard/Free Realms and anything else there.

I've been enjoying it so far, I think I noticed they removed a bunch of quests out of the starting cities in Qeynos - somewhat disapointing. I seem to be gaining xp overly fast - I actually turned off combat xp so i could get the hang of things without out leveling my gear too quickly.

Yeah, the Qeynos/FP newb experience was revamped in '07, I think. XP is *much* faster.

Just as a point of information, Dya...

if you offer to give someone something for their trouble it's a tip. If they tell you how much you are to give them, then it's a fee!

Not only is it bad form to ask someone for a tip, it's downright rude to specify the size of the "gratuity"!!!

What OBD said! Now, given the cost of stuff in higher Tiers I wouldn't mind tipping a plat. But my rates for T8 were 15g per combine if all raws were provided!
