Ever since a dev said "The Golden Path" on a podcast there's been a lot of confusion about it.

Confusion-eliminating article here:

The Golden Path

It has an unfortunate resonance, somewhere between "Shining Path" (Peruvian death squad) and golden shower. Smiley: um

There seems to be a problem with that path. Sinking sands is a no-go since the mobs are 8-10 levels higher than the quests required to kill them and I've been reduced to grinding in Sanctum of the Scaleborn due to mobs not spawning and not being able to continue the quest series in Tenebrous Tangle.

Also the write-up has you going to Steamfont at 27 but the quest in-game says you need to be 32 before you get the nod to go to Steamfont (I dunno if you can go earlier, since my ranger was already 32).

However, I can't find Silvers at the Gnomeland Security place anyway. Maybe he went out for some fast-food fish.

Not true anymore about SS. They went back in and lowered the mob levels so they match with the quests now.

Oh reaaaallly?!? I haven't gone there in the past week.. woo woo if they did, the level bump was terrible.

Yeah, 32 sounds more accurate, I agree. The last quests in the major series in BBM are low 30s anyways. :)

Silvers was right outside Gnomeland, at the bottom of the climbing wall. I based the level on the level Silvers has you go there on his quest, but my information is from Beta. I meant to re-run this on live today but got sidetracked :)

I was just there last night and it was all ok for me. Mobs were mid 40's to mid 50's for the most part.

Maybe I just got the special one.

He's not at -645, 131, 940?

I got sucked in by Odus content yesterday; I'll run down there today, promise. Unless something else goes all strange on me, yesterday was the strangest day.

I was running all over Gnomeland Security and the area at the bottom of the climbing wall, trying to track him.

I suspect he did a bunk, and they'll drag him back. I suggest a graphic of a ball and chain when they do.

They have indeed changed some locatins and tweaked some quests since Beta. Just finished the first one. You have to meet him in BBM at the GFAY entrance, THEN he sends you to Steamfont. He's not in Steamfont until after you meet him in BBM.

Going to Steamfont right now; updating my writeups on the fly.

EDIT: confirmed, what happene dis you followed my beta writeup instead of the quest :) Do what I said above, then he's right where he should be in Steamfont.

I did meet him in GFay. He did send me to Steamfont. I have it in my quest journal.

Er, at the GFay entrance in BB, that is.

He's hiding from my ranger? And she's just the sweetest thing.

I'll drop the quest and go back to BB and try to pick it back up.

I believe you. He just isn't there for me in spite of the quest in my quest log telling me to go find him there. Hence, I'll drop and re-get the quest and see if that gooses him into existence in my universe.

Update! Cause I know you all care, and stuff.

Little Meander went back to the wall leading up to Gnomeland Security and verified that her contact was not there.

At that point I dropped the quest and returned to BB to talk to him there again, at which point I decided to go directly there from BB, through the new pathway that branches off from the LFay path.

And there he was, right where he said he'd be.

I don't know at this point whether it was just bugged, or whether you have to take that route to get to him at Gnomeland Security. Previously I'd gotten there by taking the druid ring. Re-reading the quest text, going through the newly opened pathway may be more than a suggestion.

I'll most likely need to drop that quest on the characters that have it then. I picked it up on a few before the fix went in, so I bet they're all bugged.

I seem to recall a dev post that he wasn't responding to people. Completely forgot about it.

As a very new player, I noticed that there may be a little more to this golden path than what is in the guide. I've done the timorous deep and the darklight woods zones and I've noticed that there are a few quests in those zones that aren't in the zam database. They mostly appear to be new handholding quests which may send you to go see person X at a camp somewhere in the zone, which happens to also have tons of other quests. Maybe this, too, is part of that eventual goal for the golden path.

I think you're right. There are a few more intermediate quest givers around. In GFay, for example, the matron of the nursery sends you to a person at the base of the tree you need to climb. He tells you how to climb the tree to talk to the next person. That middleman is new; before, you just had to figure out how to get up that tree.

Doesn't surprise me they're missing; we've been awful busy and haven't been able to get to the newb zones to look at 'em. Feel free to add them!
