Did you see today's hotfix notes? There's been a mildly rabid discussion on the official forums about how SOE hates everyone because you can't put 20 spells in a macro any more :)

I never used macros until about October of last year, and I only use them for certain text/action combos. I guess I'm pretty apathetic about the situation.

I did have to giggle at someone trying to say that they'll have health problems from having to hotkey mash. Probably the most ridiculous angle you can start with for the macro argument.

No kidding :) I suffer bad tendinitis in my hands and wrists, yet manage to use no macros at all and pretty much work on the computer all day with very few ill effects unless I'm going at it 18 hours a day for a week. It's a matter of being smart about your personal ergonomics.

You never played a bard in EQ1, I take it.

I read the thread on the official forums. Most people seem ok with it but those few that are crying... wow. "But I don't want to take a break occasionally! I have to sit at my computer for 6+ hours EVERY DAY AND RAID!! Smiley: mad"

Actually, I did! She's in her 60s now. I didn't play bard very extensively before the harmony command came along, but I was able to twist at least 3 songs.. never got far enough along to master twisting 4 songs. :)

I liked the one that didn't want to take his/her eyes off the monitor long enough to find the default finger keys on the keyboard. I wouldn't want his/her Visine bill.

This is pretty much where I sit. My characters use the following:

Necro: Pet Attack, Consumption (so pet procs a heal when they attack), and the stupid pet dagger that attacks for 30 seconds, and either Taunt or for my mage pet Reduce Threat (2 seperate macros with only the last 2 spells different).

Templar: Emergency Heal ("Used Emergency heal on %T Live damnit Live").. so that they know that heal is down for a period.

Fury: ^ That. Also one that when I'm in combat combines 2 spells and a Heroic for maximum damage.

SK: Rescue, and Evac

Coercer: Mezzes (which I have macros for...but in good groups I dont need to tell them what I'm doing because they know that I will use encounter mezzes and I dont like to spame /g chat so I just use the non-macro versions 90% of the times).

I have NEVER combined more then 4 spells into a macro..they dont work correctly anyway. Plus I would rather not have a long casting spell go off when I suddenly change my mind...then have to cancel...then try to cast the spell I WANT to cast.

I haven't used macros since EQ1. If I ever get into raiding in EQ2 I'm sure I might need one or two, but some of those people sound like they use a macro for every thing, no matter how they're playing. I really don't get it. I'm not "down" on macros or anything. I just haven't run into a situation yet where I think I'd need one.

But really... people were putting 20 /useabilities in one macro? What kind of stuff would you need that for?

I did! And I could pull a 5-song twist. Without macros. While nursing my newborn. At a raid.

UP hill, BOTH ways, IN the snow.

I knew some awesome bards. Not enough, but a few.

I knew a few as well. One of them had a sick obsession with clearing PoF in one pull while we were hunting for epic drops for alts, excluding CT and the golems.

Of course that one pull took three hours, but hey. ONE PULL.

Actually, it only took about an hour from the time he left to pull to the time we killed everything.

Once he pulled he would run by the raid and we would pull packs out of the train. Getting people to not be trigger happy and pull extra groups out of the train was the hard part.

Aside from an all mage group, the most awesome group I've been in on EQ was an all bard group. ;)

So, actually on topic, if I read the forums correctly, supposedly they reverted the macro changes in a client patch yesterday.

Due to the protests or because it did nothing for the lag?

No idea, honestly didn't care enough to read why, just happened to see a new thread pop up that Gninja answered quickly when the original "omg my poor health" thread got locked. ;)

I macroed almost every melee CA, (swashbuckler), I have. There are at least 25 entries, and I haven't had any problems with it since SF went live.

And in my defense, it just makes it easier to juggle all the other stuff going on. Moving around, hitting other abilities as needed, hit macro, hit macro, pause for auto attack, clear dets, etc. It does not change how I use my CA's, or the order in which I use them, but it does save me time trying to find them on the seven open hot bars I have up.

If they change things to prevent my using that one macro, I'll just split it into two macros.

That would be because for the time being they reverted it back to the original. Still, I can't imagine the need to have that many abilities que..or how it's possible. I've tried putting a few abilities into a macro, and they never cast in the order that I would like. To even get them all to cast you have to hit the macro more than once anyway, so whats the point?

I may be an *** for saying this, but are you too stupid to move your hand 4 centimeters to hit another button?
