I read about this on the SoE boards a few hours ago, I think this is a great idea so people can actually get into the game (mainly trial accounts), without having to wait a day or two for a download and patching.
It should be noted that for the beta testing this is ONLY on the Test Server, so you do need a SoE account in good standing to use this.
