I just got a Master spell from the Research Assistant and that rocks. I assume you can get pretty much any of your spells from them. Doesn't this make spell crafters obsolete? Why wouldn't it? What does this do to the price of rares only used in spells? I'm not complaining. If it's true that they replace spell crafters, I'll retool my scribe as a provisioner, because I think spells are the ONLY things scribes craft. Correct me if I'm wrong.

- it takes a full month to upgrade ONE level 70+ spell from AD3 (expert) to Master

- this can only be done for 1 character on your account

- you cannot upgrade any spell to master unless it is already at AD3 level

also consider, 10 new levels are being released Feb 2010

I'm currently leveling a Scribe, Jeweler, Alchemist primarily to create spells

if you want to wait a year to have a RA create your spells, thats an option, but not one I care for

Research Assistants don't really affect the AD3 market since you have to have an AD3 to get the master researched in the first place. They also don't affect the price of rares on the broker for the same reason.

The only thing the RAs really impinge upon is the insane broker cost of some high level masters. I believe SOE developed them (Research Assistants) solely so that "just plain folks" (people who are not in high end raiding guilds) can also afford to have master spells.

It's quite odd, but I was active on the research assistant with two characters. Sure, on different servers but still.

It will not replace crafters imo, after all you need the crafted one before you can upgrade it, it will be extremely handy getting the truly expensive masters and the very elusive ones. As a Monk, I've been looking for several masters (tsunami comes to mind) but just never see them.

Or when you do see them they are unavoidably high in price... with a research assistant, not so much!

Zieveraar, one research per account per server. So its ok to have two researches, if you are on two different servers

Aah, it makes sense I suppose. Mind you, I can see people transferring a character to a different server to get some upgrades. Sounds crazy, but if they're really going to cut the transfer price in half, it wouldn't surprise me.

All research assistants are doing is lowering the price of some of those very rare masters like Tsunami. But you still need to have a crafter make you the adept 3 version of the spell before you can research it so it really wont effect the crafters.
