Starting tomorrow :: World of Warcraft

Hey guys,

So, as the title says, I plan to get the game tomorrow. I come from SWG and before that, I had never played a computer game in my life. So, obviously, I was never into EQ1 and have no idea how this game works.

So, I am looking for some advice on what I should do and who I should play. I love magic, always have. So I am leaning towards a magic user. However, in my experience, mages or whatever you want to call them are hard characters to start with and moreover, get to high levels (but once there, they are bad ***).

Would it be easier for me to make a fighter or something until i learn about that game?

Well, you could start a fighter to learn the basics, but with the addition of combat arts (mele classes spells) it's almost just as complicated to play a fighter. Personally, I would start as a mage. They aren't too fragile, although arguably they are more so than other races. However, you will still be able to solo and learn the game at your own pace on the island.

Trust me. You're almost better comming into this game with no preconceived notions. I am trying to do that, although it is hard since I played EQ for many years then FFXI.

I'm always an advocate of playing what you love best. Even if it is a little harder or takes a little longer, you'll enjoy the time spent much more than if you sacrificed personal preference for speed of advancement. You want to enjoy the journey, not just reaching the goal...
