How have you dealt with it? I remember when I first started playing EQlive and I was doing so many things wrong. I wonder what we are all doing wrong right now?

I have only played with one chanter and no one my lvl has FD yet. So far the best thing we could come up with was this:

1. Have two group members who could root and get within range

2. One person picks the far right mob and one picks the far left. Try to cast at the same time or at least close

3. The remaining mobs rush and the fighters grab aggro

4. Mages root again and again as needed while also throwing nukes at the one or two mobs being engaged.

Like I said, I'm sure we are all messing up and in a few months we will all say, "Ohhhh thats how you do it!" Anyone found a better way? If so please share.

As an Illusionist in Beta I did most of the crowd control for my group since I could root, stun, and mez. By level 22 you get your tier 2 Mesmerize spell (Entrance) and level 23 you get your group mesmerize spell.

What I mostly did before level 23 is if we had a group of 5 mobs we are attacking, puller would call the target. As soon as it is pulled I would cast binding light to root the target then tab over and cast my mesmerize spell then tab over and ego shock. Then I would tab again and mesmerize the 4th. Immediately, I would shift-tab to the mob I ego shocked and binding light him. Then shift-tab twice to the mob I binding lighted and mesmerize then tab twice and mesmerize the one I had just blinding lighted. Then I would just work on keeping them all mez'd.

Sure this would be confusing but at 23 you get the mesmerize spell to mesmerize a full group (although it locks the illusionist from being able to cast anything else while holding the spell).

For smaller groups, I focused on just using my stun spells, Daunting Gaze and Stupefy or for casters, focus on overwhelming silence and other mind drains. I have been very successful at making my whole job in a group being crowd control so the rest of the group can worry about damage. Once level 23 comes around with a group mesmerize, it is much better since you won't be breaking HO's by mezing more targets.

If this does not apply to your group if there is no enchanter then... go get an enchanter :P We rule!

Great reply, thank you. In beta did you notice and monks or SKs pulling with FD, and or bards getting fade and basically being the best pullers in the game?

Yea, I wish I could go back just 2 lvls and pick a chanter. Then again, I'm looking forward to playing my warlock!
