Skill Upgrades, Help?Follow

#1 Nov 11 2004 at 8:11 AM Rating: Decent
Forgive my ignorance but I have noticed most skills that I have gotten so far say they are "Aprentice I". Is this a level within the skill, if so how do you go about leveling the skill, another words upgrading the skill if at all possible. I have looked in a few different forums and info sites but have not found an answer or even a mention of this. Thanks for your help in advance.

I think you have to find crafters (scholars) that create items to upgrade your skills. I havent done it myself but thats the way I understand it.

For every skill or spell, you have 3 major progressions. Apprentice, Adept and Mastery with each have levels 1, 2 and 3 within each progression. All upgrades are strictly player made.

You can upgrade a skill/spell to any level as soon as you have that skill/spell. for example. you get spell X with it at apprentice 1, you can actually go and get, if you can afford it, mastery 3 of that spell. Granted you will not see the full effects of the spell for quite awhile but its still will be better what you have.

Currently, Fighter skills for levels 3-9 for apprentice 3 cannot be made because of a bug with a component.

Figures I'm a level 10 Brawler. :p

How do I go about upgrading my level 10+ skills? Should I learn how to craft these myself or look for a crafter to buy them off of?

The "grade" of a spell acts as a modifier to your effective level, for casting purposes. Apprentice I versions are "level -1", App. II is equal to your real level, App. III is "level +1" and so forth. There are actually four grades to each catagory (Apprentice, Adept, and Master) but not all of them are in the game yet. So, using a Master I version, you cast that spell as if you were seven levels higher than you really are.

Some can be bought... I bought Apprentice II for the cleric spell courage on an NPC vendor in Greystone i believe it was in the alchemy buildting or scribe. Actually there were alot of level 2 Apprentice upgrades on that vendor

Apprentice II can be purchased from Scribes. Apprentice III are player crafted. I believe that Adept III are also player crafted but I never got high enough to get those recipies in Beta. I THINK many of those recipies are from rare drops of crafting books.

By the way- there's actually 4 levels in each progression.

Apprentice 1 spells are gained automaticially as you level.
Apprentice 2 spells are store-bought.
Apprentice 3 spells are player-crafted using fairly common materials.
Apprentice 4 spells are questable, but I never saw any.

Adept 1 spells are dropped from mobs.
Adept 2 spells are questable, but I never saw any.
Adept 3 spells are player-crafted using rare components.
Adept 4 spells are questable/high level mob droppable, but I never saw any.

Master 1 spells are usually quested or from combat mastery, and quite rare (Orc Mastery Quest, for example).
Master 2 spells are very, very high level mob drops.
Master 3 spells are crafted using components from very, very high level mobs.
Master 4 spells are artifacts; one per server. They will be handed out by GM's for GM quests.
