System requirement problemsFollow

Hi, i'm new here but I was quite active on the eqoa boards. Anyway, I have an Intel Extreme Graphics 3D video card and 512 MB of Ram. However, when I tried to create my character on my starter disc, it said that my system did not have the minimum requirements, heres what it said:

502 MB RAM < 512 MB RAM

And also that my video card did not have pixel shader and directx 9.0, so I downloaded directx and it still didnt work.

So will I have trouble playing the game? Thanks for any and all help!

Well, that card does it have MBs? like Radeon 9000 64MB, your video card doesn't seem to show the MB, and about the 512 MB memory, even if you have physical memory of 512, using programs reduce the MB of the computers, on normal PCs that is not usually a big problem, but on laptops just using windows takes about 1/5 of memory, so you might have to buy more memory and a new video card, just a 128 memory will increase it enough to play and cheap and for video, if you are rich get like radeon 9800 256 MB that video card is my dream card.

I'm not familiar with that Intel graphics chip, but I'd be very suprised if it supported pixel shaders. If you've got DirectX 9.0C installed and it's still saying your card is unsupported, then you're out of luck. It's time to upgrade.

The problem you are having,is that the Intel video chipset is an on motherboard item. So it uses system memory for its graphics rendering. So If the chipset requires 256mb of ram to run, your system is useing only 256mb of ram for the rest of the resorces. What you need is a graphics card with its own RAM.

I have a HP that I bought just to rip its guts out. I messed and bought one with an integrated video card. The specs said that it had 512 mb of memory. But they do not tell you that the video card takes 8 mb of that memory. So I had to upgrade my memory to 768 just to get over the 512 mark. Going by what the installer is telling you then you have the same problem. But I am not some computer guru. Just my 2 cents worth.

Wolffbane,

You are correct, I work for a credit union IT Dept that has over 300 dell systems which use intigrated video chipsets. We always have to order extra memory to keep the systems running well because the video chipset take up so much of it.

Let this be a lesson to all of us grasshoppers; "Beware the term: INTEGRATED", run the other way fast.
