#1 Nov 08 2004 at 5:19 PM Rating: Decent
Just wanted to know if I will be able to run EQ2 well. not min settings but not max either somewhere in the middle.

P4 2.4 GHZ
1 gig DDR ram
40 gig 7200 rpm Western Digital HDD
Geforce FX 5600 128mb
Soundblaster live 5.1 plat

Also what would it take to run EQ2 at max visual settings in atleast 1280x1024 res?

For xmas I will be getting a geforce 6800 GT or Ultra cant deside yet and I will be upgrading my sound card to the audigy 2 OEM should that run EQ2 at max settings? Both visual and sound?

That should work pretty well, but you might want to upgrade your video card to a Geforce 6600gt or Radeon 9800 pro, to play the game at a decent frame rate with the balanced option on.

So i am guessing the new Geforce 6800 Ultra is a bit of an over kill for this game?

A 6800gt should work just as well, but if you have the cash for an Ultra, by all means go for it. I have a Geforce 6800gt pci express with 256 megs and run EQ2 with all options on high. Yu can scale the graphics if you have one of the nicer video cards which lets you take advantage of the card's power. I would recommend that you avoid getting ATI X800 PRO OR X800 XT as the Ati drivers are weak and the cards are 1. more expensive than the Nvidia alternatives 2. Nvidia supports pixel shader 3.0 which will figure big in games coming out this year. ATI cards still only support pixel shader 2.0.3. the Nvidia cards also support sli, which will allow you to add a second card of that type, and connect them for one helluva powerful graphics array, if you ever choose to.

how does sli work?? I use agp cards and since there is only one agp on any board how will they connect?

I dobt many people will use sli, it is expensive enough for one card nm two, and like you said, it is kind of overkill at this point(a new mobo with sli capabiities and 2 slots wll be needed to). Right now, the 6800 gt and 6800 ultra are readily available in agp format. You will easily find one. The only reason i found my PCX version(which are very scarce atm), is because i am friends with someone that coowns a system vendor.

Aye, PCI versions would be needed on mass scale. I believe it goes against FCC regulations to put more then one AGP on a board at once. cause if it didnt everything would be AGP. and there would be no PCI slots at all.
