Now this is all messed up, because I talked to the manager at the gamestop in Milwaukee, WI and he told me the game is at the warehouse today and will be here tomorrow around 11am. He also said that this will be typical of all gamestop stores.

But then if you think about it, its not going to do anyone any good to get it today, when the servers will not go live until 10am CST tomorrow.

but the real question is has anyone been able to log in or is the login server not being brought up until 10am est tomorrow?

The servers are up - people are playing. How many? No idea - but there are a few with technical issues even a posting of a screencap.

Preordered 2 Collectors Edition from Gamestop (Birmingham Alabama). They are saying they won't have them until Wednesday.

EB already has the game on the shelf at multiple locations in my area, but no extra copies of Collectors Edition, only preorders. Picked the wrong store to pre-order from this time.

Ok my bad.

But that make absolutely no sense as to the explanation from SOE.

to paraphrase SOE:
"Even though the offical launch of the game is tomorrow, because some people receive their game earlier then they should have, we have opened up the server to allow them to start playing."

Now doesn't that mean that really today is the real launch of the game because its the first day of paying customers playing the game?
hmmmm.

If tommorrow is the official launch, then they should have kept the servers down until the official launch time.

I am not sure I would call it that, but then I tend not to swear in public forums. Though I admit to having no empirical evidence to back up my claim, it is based on the following post made by an employee of SoE:

Quote:
Officially the game does not launch until tomorrow. However some people may have received their copy of EQ2 already, which is why we have the servers up and available to be logged into today instead of tomorrow.

Perhaps in future you should do some investigation before making rude declarations on the information provided by others? Or maybe when you get your EQ 2 created you can go into the official forums and call Chad a BS'r?

EDIT: Why should they keep the servers down? It give both SoE and those fortunate (or unfortunate) enough to have the game in hand today, a chance to try it out - maybe shake down some bugs, so that when it "Officialy" launches tomorrow things may go smoother. While I am anxious to get my hands on it as well, in another way I am glad I have to wait a couple of days...when I do get it perhaps I will know of some things to watch out for. For instance, folks with both GeForce and ATI based cards are having some issues, others are having problems with the All Access pass, etc.

Well, technically Sony may be required to bring the servers up legally. I mean if you buy something, then it has to work right?

ugghhh eb and gamestop both said not until tomorrow no way no how
not even if I purchased halo 2, which i didn't no interest but would as a christmas gift to get eq2 now. THey are actually being quite rude and told me they arent selling it unitl 3pm at the earliest so now i am trolling walmarts as i think that is odd some selling today but not any in vegas, grrrr, it's frustrating.\

What that post means is that people who got the game today can log on and see a timer of how long it will take for the server to be officially open. They don't get to play til tommorow.

Thats the way I interpret it. Of course It could mean they did turn it on to allow them to play to satisfy the few who complained.

I can confirm that in the Milwaukee, WI area at EBgames, they have the basic CD version available right now. Gamestop will not have anything in until tomorrow.

Talk about pre-ordering from the wrong place, I called the Babbages/Gamestop (Highland Mall, Austin TX) I ordered from and they said their shipment had issues and won't be in until Wednesday at the earliest!!

Got my dvd version from fedex earlier today and played until 30 minutes ago. I have to go shortly to get my collector's edition from Gamestop, as they only got that and the dvd edition in. No cd version (and that's just the preorders) until tomorrow afternoon.
#48 Nov 08 2004 at 5:32 PM Rating: Decent
Well I just got back from my local EB (Gainesville FL) and I had preordered back in August, they got only CD and collectors editions in and only enough for their preorders, so despite the fact that I preordered in Aug. I get screwed because I ordered the dvd version apparently. No one else has it localy or I would have gotten my money back.
