Nov 8 Release DateFollow

I'm a bit confused here - Nov 8 is the retail release of EQ2, but over on Stratics they're doing contests to get into the EQ2 beta...is this "retail release" really just a pay-to-play beta? Didn't SoE do the same thing with Star Wars Galaxies and get burned???

Yeah, I would certainly look at this release as a pay-to-beta for the next 3 months or so. Then again, I do not mind that. I would have probably signed up a lot sooner than this, if it had been available.

However, I think the real reason for the Nov 8 release is to beat WoW out of the gate. Although I think the audiences for EQ2 and WoW are fundamentally different. That said, I don't think EQ2 can afford to let WoW have a 3 month head start.

And, the thinking over at WoW is the same, if I don't miss my guess. Neither of these are going to have much, if any, 'Open Beta' time. Although WoW *may* be further along in base quality, I expect more from EQ2 in the long run. PvP will belong to WoW, though.

if you live in San Diego, there is a chance you can get it on the 8th...
Unfortunately, Hawaii wont get it until the 10th (at least thats what the store told me).... /cry

I have a bit of good news for some of you anyway....Just a thought on my past experiences ordering from Sony ....Last time I ordered something that I was waiting to be released....was delivered to me on the date of release...I am positive of this....because I was soooo pleasantly surprised when it arrived that day....So Here's Hoping that it will happen this time too....

The wait is driving me crazy.My wife is bata testing and it drive me insane watching her play.If i can trick her into going somewhere i can try it for a while lol.come on 8th.

Hi all, well I just called my closest EB games store, and they told me I could come pick it up later today (mon 8th). I cant wait. I feel like Im a kid and its christmas eve lol...im in LA california btw.....well see yall in game!!!!

If you guys read the site it says the game "ships" on the 8th. It will be "available" on the 9th. They don't make copies of the game in the stores, thus a "shipping to the stores" date. If you look at the counter on the main site also, it is set for 10am (CST) Tuesday morning. That means even if you do someone cheat and get your copy on the 8th, the servers aren't going live until 10am (CST) Tuesday morning. Probably to give more people a chance to get and install the game. SoE did this with EQOA:Frontiers also. They released the game on a Monday and "shipped" it to stores and it was "available" the next day, Tuesday. When SoE says the game is shipping I think that means THEY are shipping it to stores. Anyone agree with this theory?

I am from the netherlands and ordered via SOE, i got an email today that is has been shipped, and when i look at UPS tracking i can see that it is already in the netherlands waiting at customs to be cleared.

EB games here in Maine is staying open to give us the game at midnight

What part of FL and did you preorder? Jacksonville area should have it or getting it soon and Orlando area should be about 3pm

In Milwaukee, WI, the Gamestop stores won't have it until tomorrow. EB Games have the basic CD version available today.

Heck, I am pissed I pre ordered from the wrong company. I pre ordered from Gamestop. If I had ordered from EBgames I would be playing right now.
