EQII System Requirements?Follow

#1 Oct 31 2004 at 5:58 AM Rating: Decent
Haven't really had a chance ot look at the system requirements but my PC is a P4 3.2ghz, with 512MB of the Corsair DDR Low Latency RAM, but my video card is an older PNY Ti4200 GeForce4 128MB card. It cost me about 250 bucks about 2 years ago and I'd like to get some more milage on it...will it suffice?

I have a Pentium(R)4 CPU, 2.66ghz, installed 1 gig of RAM, Windows XP Pro, Video card PNY GeForce FX 5900 SE AGP 128MB.
Lagasy Audio W/Subwoofer, 20 inch Samsung Syncmaster 213T Flat Panel Monitor set at 1600 x 1200 resolution. I am currently using the EQ Beta site and find the computer running fine at Medium level. Too much lag at high level settings. I'm hoping that is because of the lack of many servers. I'll have to wait till next week to see. I hope this is a good barometer for those using these or close to these parameters.

Fandalg you'll be fine, my buddy is playing it on a 700 mhz processor,256ddr ram, geforce 128 mb and a 25 gig hard drive. I dont know the settings he's running the game on, but on his computor EQ2 has the best graphics i've ever seen on an online game.

On top of that he had no lag where ever he was killin monters at, he did get lagged abit going into freeport. The screen lag was about like the lag in pok on eq.

Seriously, this makes me wonder why they gave such high system requirements for EQ2 when my friends computor can easily run it at his above system specs. I'm thinking maybe the system requirements that they put down are requirments needed to run the game almost flawlessly on normal settings. Bah! Who knows lololol

You can go to http://everquest2.station.sony.com/systemscan/ (it only works with IE based browsers) and run their system scan tool. It will tell you whether or not you'll be able to run and play the game.

Oh, and to the poster about me, I can run the game fine on Balanced with less than stellar hardware myself....so long as I stay in an outdoor zone. Once I enter a dungeon, my framerate drops like lead in a pond. It's all a matter of where you're playing.

The column labels seem to be missing now but, if I recall correctly, the column where you see "Unsupported" is video card. You need a true DirectX 9 card, so toss your 9800 Pro in there if you want to play. I've been using a 128MB 9800 Pro in beta, and it works great.

512mb Ram is really cutting it close. Out in the open you'll be fine but once you get into cities there will most likely be some stuttering. I find it hard to believe someone can even run the game on 256mb Ram. Also, I recommend a 128mb video card for smooth play, but 64mb will work. One thing I do know is that this game doesn't rely on the processor very much so low end processors should do fine. The thing I would stress the most though is RAM since the stuttering caused by the HD using virtual memory is much worse than low FPS caused by a low end video card.
