Having more than one class?Follow

#1 Oct 28 2004 at 7:16 PM Rating: Decent
I have been playing FFXI Since it was released and before that EQ. My question is this. Once you chose a class can you change again later? I have looked at a few forums on other sites. eq2vault, stragtics, etc. I saw one site that talked about being a fighter at lvl 20 and was an artisan at lvl 12. So I am wondering if I was like lvl 30 Fighter and decided I wanted to be a scout instead can I go to a guild master and start back at lvl 10 scout? Or say I am a lvl 50 Shadownight and want to be a Plally instead can I just change my class and start back at a lower lvl in the tree?

Artisan is for crafting and Figher is the actual character class.

For the main classes you must choose Fighter, Mage, Priest or Scout. These main classes branch 2 more times for specialization. Once you choose a path, you cannot change.

The same goes for artisan. You can be a Craftman, an Outfitter, or a Scholar and then you specialize from there.

The notion of changing jobs and having support jobs is not part of EQ2.

Ok I understand how this works for Fighter,Mage, Priest, and Scout. I quess the Artisan archtype might be different. This is what I read and why I seem so confused.

Is the artisan a separate archetype I must choose, or can my adventurer character craft items as well?
Every character can be both an artisan and an adventurer. The artisan archetype is actually a separate advancement path that is open to everyone. Artisans gain experience through practicing their craft, gaining levels and moving through the class tree to choose a class and subclass. Artisan experience is separate from adventure experience, so the only way to advance as an artisan is through the crafting process. A single character can, for instance, simultaneously be a level 23 paladin and a level 15 scholar; players choose which profession they want to display when another player sees them in the world.

Just to be perfectly clear, your adventurer class and artisan class are two entirely seperate job tracks. Each is fixed once you make your choices (fighter/warrior/berserker for example) but you can advance both adventurer and artisan independently. For example I did fighter/warrior/berserker to 21st, but I also did artisan/outfitter to 19th.
