What kind of garbage it that, no Vah Shir...i pride myself on being a Vah Shir, everyone knows me as being a Vah Shir. I have been reading the FAQ on the EQ2 boards. main reason why i started playing EQ was because i like the Vah Shir. I would like to read some lore on why the Vah Shir were singled out to be exterminated, its cause we are Agnostic right...either that or SoE is racists. "...but you can play one of their cousins, the kerra." Cousins, ya right. I would not be a Kerra if you gave me 1000kp. My second choice would be Froglok but you cant even be them either until after other people do some kind of serve wide quest.
I want to be a Vah Shir!!!!

The kerrans look a whole lot like the Vah Shir from the released shots. Nothing like the emaciated wretches from Erud's Crossing.

As far as I can gather the surviving Vah Shir are supposed to have "mingled".

Since the entire moon is gone it would be hard to keep them as they were but I too deplore the cavalier removal of one of the best-loved races.

Actually, the race is called the Kerra, Kerran is a descriptive term for them (I'm in beta, so I know). :) Anyway, yes, most of the Vah Shir were killed when Luclin was destroyed (for reasons as yet unknown). There were some Vah Shir who had returned to Norrath prior to said destruction and inter-mingled with their Kerra cousins. So, the Kerra of EQ2 are a more evolved version you are familiar with in EQLive.

The kerrans look in no way like the Vah Shir. The Vah Shir have a proud, feline look, while the Kerran are some kind of mash-faced, funky, furry creature.

The Vah Shir were one of the reasons I bought EQ in the first place (started right after they came out) and I'm hoping SOE will change their minds and bring them back in an expansion. A lost civilization or something. Maybe they all withdrew to the moon during the Chaos Wars or somesuch.

Sorry Vah Shir are not in game. Actually, its a shame they even brought Vah Shir into the game. There were located on Kerra Isle; why not just have a band of them on Luclin, instead of creating a new race? Essentially, they are the same.
And in regards to physical features, all the races are a bit different than in EQ1.

Dude, the moon blew up. The reasons for it are on the EQ2 website- to make a long story short, one of the things you stopped from happening in Planes of Power was a plan to use a big 'ol crystal that was charging power in the Tower of Solusek Ro to unleash a firestorm on Norrath and, to be blunt, nuke the world. Rallos Zek got pissed when you took out the delivery mechanism (Manaetic Behemoth) and punted Solusek Ro around a bit, and used a weaker one on Luclin; it detonated in the Nexus, which is the center of the moon. Bad stuff, that.

So... chance of Vah Shir civilization still existing on Luclin? Very, very low. Shissar might still be hanging around, since they can breathe in a vacuum, and that would be a neat expansion.

The Kerrans in EQ2 are a result of cross-breeding between the Kerran and Vah Shir population (after the portal to Luclin opened, they began to intermix). They look like a bit of a cross between them. It's certainly possible to make a Kerran character who looks like a Vah Shir from EQ1.

My second choice would be Froglok but you cant even be them either until after other people do some kind of serve wide quest.

I haven't heard this about Froglok's, so what kind of quest has to be done to achieve Froglok status? I am very curious...

I'm also wondering... Supposedly the person who does it will gain serverwide recognition.

I want to find it and do it...

All hail Aarthar, Dwarven Priest who freed the Froglocks!

The Kerra *ARE* the Vah Shir. Or, actually, the other way around. Check out the Lore about the Kerra on the official EQ2 site :

"During the civil war between the Erudites and the Heretics, a huge explosion of mystical forces teleported an entire kerra village to the dark side of the moon of Luclin. Vah Kerrath survived this journey and renamed his lost tribe the Vah Shir. The kerra on Norrath scattered; some went west to settle Kerra Isle, others east to a tiny island in Erud's Crossing, and others fled deep into the Stonebrunt Mountains. Much later, a path to Luclin was breached and some of the Vah Shir returned to Kerra Isle, breeding a new, stronger people."

For me, I think the Cat-Folk look a lot better now. The original models for Vah Shir always looked a little to 'cute' for my tastes.

Nobody knows what the quest is. They haven't implemented the quest for us beta testers, and have stated that it WON'T be put into beta. It's for once the servers go live only. So no shortcutting. :)

The Vah Shir were the nobles of the kerra. Once seperated, they evolved into two different races. The Vah Shir were much more evolved than the kerra. Once the nexus opened up the moon very few Vir Shir returned to Norrath. It was a alien place to them. The moon wasn't destroyed till recently in EQ2 history, but teleports, gates and transporters had been disabled for hundreds of years. The few Vah Shir left on Norrath might have intermixed with Kerra, but there were far to few to make a big difference over hundreds of years. The Vah Shir blood would be to weak.
One thing is for sure, a great many of the most powerful were not in Norrath when ports started failing. Norrath was without most of it's best as most would have been stuck in the planes, the moon or discord.

Froggys are the only race that look exactly the same as in EQlive. There are allready some Froglok NPCs in Qeynos.

When my friend wanted me to play EQLive with him I told him I would only play if I could be the cats, But after a while of playing EQ I didnt even like playing as the cats becuz they are too tall. So now I only play short races. And I dont think the frogs or the cats look as cool as in the first one.

I agree, that the Kerran is not as desireable, appearance wise..
The female Kerran is a tall, skinny, raggedy looking creature.. I miss my Vah Shir, already...And I miss my Beastlord...(She was one and the same)...I keep hoping for an expansion that will bring her back.. *pouts** I also think the appearance of the Erudite is extremely lacking...Such a sad and dreary, blah looking creature...I feel that if you pick a character, you want it to be acceptable to be looked upon with some redeeming qualities..(appearance) Humans and 1/2 elves are the leaders in appearance...How Boring... :(

Lol, I never really cared for the Vah Shir and I did think the Vah Shir looked a little better than the Kerran, but then I started playing... After I played a few characters that I thought I would possibly play when the game came out I tried a Scout and I ended up loving him (and I never thought I would play a scout, I was thinking I would be playing a mage and especially a fighter), but I plan on playing a good char and I had made an Iksar (and Frogloks weren't available), so I tried an Erudite because they look awesome in sneak, but their stats aren't good for a scout (btw, I didn't like the new Erudites either, I thought they looked like aliens, but the graphics on them are amazing and they look sweet as mages, and their runes shine in the sun and everything...OMG! So they grew on me too) so then I started a Kerran scout, because I like the looks of them when in sneak, then I started making him, and when adjusting his features I thought, these guys look better than I remember for some reason, and with their adornments, they can look pretty damn cool. So then I started playing as him and got armor and some weapons and he looked soooooo cool (until beta deleted him today )*8). So I thought Vah Shir looked better too, but after a while the Kerran grew on me, now I think I like the Kerran better, or at least if made as a scout they look better. Another thing though, they don't look much different, all races have changed a little bit, but I think most of you guys are dwelling on the name, WHO CARES ABOUT THE NAME. But also, once you start playing the game, you won't even remember Vah Shir ever existed. I LOVE the looks of the Iksar and I never get to play them because I always need to be in a spot that they won't let me be (I needed to be neutral in PvP on EQLive and Iksars were evil, or I need to be good in this game and Iksars are evil and I don't have the time to do the betrayal quest right away). And if you ever think "Oh, I'm not going to be a Kerra because they changed them for my beloved Vah Shir" just remember, it isn't going to prove anything to anyone, because no one will know that you're not playing one because of that. Just try one out sometime, I know you'll like it, all the races look about 1000 times better than anything in EQLive once you start playing. And it wouldn't be very smart to not take 1000kp this time around because remember, 100cp=1sp, 100sp=1gp, 100gp=1pp, so money is much much much much much much much harder to come by! 8D

I'm not going to disagree that the Kerrans look better detail-wise, but they do not look anything like the Vah Shir on EQ. The Vah Shir male on EQ is a Buff looking dood who actually looks like a cat, wether it be a lynx (is what mine looks like) bangled tiger, white tiger, lepard, jaguar, or puma in the face. The Kerrans of EQ2 look like a cross between a cat, and friendly bear, not to mention they are tall and spindly. That, I think, is why us EQ players are so stuck on our Vah Shir.

Look! Up in the sky! Its a bird! Its a plane! Its the entire Vah Shir world blown into tiny little bits....poor kitties. Does look cool at night though.
