Any word on PVP in EQ2? I started my EQ experience on Sullon Zek (pvp server) and never played on any other. I LOVE the pvp experience. I have heard that at launch there will be no pvp. Does that include duels? Any info would be welcomed.

Yup no duels, arenas and not any plans for it in the future.

They have said that there will not be PvP at release, and don't even have plans for it in the future.

One of the big turn-offs for me, considering PvP can provide almost endless end-game content.

That is really dishearting. One of the reasons I was going to pick up EQII was for the possiblity of PvP guess I'll just save my money.

from what i have read.....pvp

pvp is in the works and the first pvp server would go live in 6-12 months after the games release.

No PvP = Boring.

I played SWG for 14 mounths and if there was no PvP in that game, I prob would of played for like 4-5 mounths

I also dont see how killing beattles and rats can be fun for more then 4 mounths, and also what would you really be leveling for? to show the snakes and bears that you would kill them in 1 hit? It would be really fun to PvP in EQ2 because there is no radar, and the towns and zones are so big.

Give it a chance as is.
But i would also like to see a bit of good vs evil

make it a with in 5-6lvl pvp, even if it is only in certain zones it would be more then none

either way, from what i have seen should be game of the year

If my memory serves me correct. I think i herd that when the original everquest came out there was no pvp. So I think if we just give it enough time and enough people beg SONY for it we will get it.

The original EQ (EQlive) was lacking in many things. PvP is not a priority for EQ2 at the moment. There is no telling what the future holds though. SOE hasn't said that there will be no PvP, just it won't have PvP for a while.
I have tried pvp in many games and found it not to my likeing. It didn't take long for other players to become as predictable as the mobs. Other players were more of a henderance to me then a challenge. I would rather stick to PvE that is more fun to me then the irritation caused by the mentality of some PvPers I've had the misfortune of running into. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to bash PvPers, I have no problem with those that like that aspect of a game. It's just not for me. But It would be nice for duels and arenas to be in the game.

For those that said they have no plans for it in the future, I know that isn't true. I read that they will not have it at release for sure, but they will consider making a PvP server. They said they just want time to perfect the system, because they don't want to have a system that isn't going to be fun or work right. I just say give it time and it will come and it will be fun too! As for the first person to reply, I think they just don't like PvP and theyre among those people who think "People that like PvP are just immature and like to talk trash!" I've heard this soooo many times and to me it just sounds like they're the immature ones that judge and don't know a thing about it. Personally, I agree with Whitemagic, it provides endless game content, it's more realistic, and if youre a roleplayer it makes everything make more sense (good vs. evil wise). Plus when PvPing, you're fighting another human, which equals another brain (most of the time), which means a more clever and challenging opponent.

Oh, btw, I played almost all of my EQ time on Sullon Zek. My friend had me start the game. Then he told me to go to Sullon, so I did and he left the game leaving me on one of the harder servers in the game without knowing what I was doing, lol. I was on the Newt team and I still have my 3 chars on that server with the game still fully installed and patched. But imo, if they just took the Sullon Zek system and put it into EQ2, that would make for a pretty fun PvP system, with Good vs. Evil (I would just take neutral out, because everyone just ganged up on us in EQLive which wasn't fair, so I say take them out and make 2 teams, so neither could gang up on anyone except the other team).

yea...after years of endless battering...we finally killed the newt team!!

heh, who were you on Sullon?

i played a few PK toons there....great server, great fun....most of the people that complain about PvP are the ones that just never got good at it...so they are better off just sticking with blue servers.

It is in the FAQ and has been stated at least 50 times on the EQ2 boards, that there are NOT ANY PLANS NOW OR IN THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE TO INCLUDE PVP IN EQ2. THIS SUBJECT HAS BEEN BEATEN DEAD 100X OVER. iF PEOPLE WANT PBP IN THEIR MMORPG, THEN WOW OR lINEAEGE 2 REALLY ARE YOUR BEST OPTIONS. EQ2 has no plans to implement and was not designed for PVP.

pvp is awesome its the only time people who spend there lives behind a computer screen can feel good about themselves because they can say "my virtual avatar destroyed your virtual avatar"

pvp brings out the worst in people, i played on rallos zek for 2 years(RL friends played there). i started out there shortly after launch, then moved to a "care bear" server. why? because i actually wanted to play the game. pvp could be fun but the class imbalance meant to kick a$$ at pvp you had to be a necro, or mana burning wizard, before they nerfed it. for melee players like myself pvp was constant dying but i got really good at bagging my gear. and when you would kill someone they would yell "so and so is a PK". which was dumb because everyone was a pk BECAUSE ITS A PVP SERVER!!!

so in my opinion they could leave pvp out for all i care. if you wanna feel l337 cuz you killed someone play tekken, quake, tribes or halo (2).

ok and now im going to get tons of flames from people who are gonna say "i have a lvl 70 necro on rallos zek and hes time geared but i still have a job that pulls in 6 figures and my wife is a super-model" so go ahead and type it ive heard it a million times. your only fooling yourself, admit it you work at burger king, live in your moms basement and are a 32 yr old virgin, but hey chin up you can whup my a$$ in pvp.

id rather play the game then flex my virtual muscles and try to validate my self worth.

Yea, no PvP. After having to deal with 1000s of children with PvP in SWG, I can deal with a game having no PvP. I'm sry but the few hundred of you honest and nice players who actually intend PvP to be something good for a game simply cannot overcome the childish immature stuff that all the others do. For instance, dropping covert scanners on crafters heading to their harvesters, sending out bogus e-mails that had WPs to scanners and turrets, all the AT-ST crap early in the games release which ended up getting the AT-ST getting nerfed, and so on.

Dont give up yet. In the beginning of Anarchy Online, there was barely and PvP at all. There were a couple of zones that allowed it, but for the most part, no one fought each other. However, all of a sudden their first expansion comes along and brings a whole new life to the game with PvP. This may be the case with EQ2.

That doesnt help to well right now...with the FAQ unaccessable and the forums wiped.

Here's the thing- in both EQ1 and every other MMORPG I've ever played, even if there wasn't much PvP at the start it was still coded into the game. In EQ1, there was the Priest of Discord, the Arena, etc. In EQ2, there is literally nothing like that at launch; no PvP coded in at all. It would require recoding large portions of the game.
