With all the talk of measures being implemented to decentralize the population from Ul'Dah, and no talk of adjustments to anima, or addition of travel options, this player is very concerned about the current state of travel.
It's without any exaggeration that I say I've spent far more time in this game steering my character down the road, than I have in actual game play. Any player who partakes in a multitude of daily activities will tell you, anima runs out fast. Battle Leves, local leves, DoL, returning to town to dump inventory.... it all adds up quickly, and you either ration anima, and run, or run out of anima and run, but run you will, and run a lot.
This was an unacceptable situation at launch. No travel options is not good game design. Now with the need to hit all the cities to pick up our crafting leves and what sounds like battle marks as well, I hope SE has forseen the need to tweek anima once again, or has a surprise (cough chocobo/airships cough) ready at patch time.
I really don't think it's going to be received well, if this turns out to be another instance of the Dev team experiencing surprise at a situation that the players see coming a mile away.
I don't know how much time you guys have left till you release 1.18, but I sure hope you have taken this into serious consideration.
