#1 Priority should be fixing DCs, and problems associated. (Follow

All games can have a disconnect, at any time, it happens, I get that. I'm not saying SE needs to make sure the internet can't go out. However SE has some very unstable servers, as is shown by the market wards, and while this may seem like a minor inconvenience during NM fights its brutal.

While this didn't change our outcome last night I want to relay a situation that happened, as it's one that will happen to you all at some point.
We were fighting NMs, and one of our best DDs lost connection after 30 seconds, and about 30 seconds later so did 3 others during the fight. Was one of those freak "wtf" moments, but SE doesn't allow players engaged in a fight to rejoin a party.

You can't teleport if your in combat, you can't join a party, or invite, etc.
So, if your in a NM fight, and 4 people lose connection it can pretty much end because, even if they COULD get back in game, they can't join the party or heal or do anything until you force yourself to wipe, or kill it.
In a fight that goes on for 10 minutes this can be really annoying.

Another major issue is that if you DC a LOT of times the game will not allow you to log back in for 10+ minutes on occasion. Another example from last night, our Lancer got a connection lost, but while DCing he was attacked by a buzzard that was unable to kill him (2k HP, at <20 dmg a hit). You can not be removed from the game until you are no longer being attacked in most cases, which means for 10+ minutes he was unable to log in until we saw his character being hit and killed the mob attacking him, at which point he instantly vanished.

First off, the game kicked someone off the server, then prevents them from logging in until they die or someone saves their immobilized character? (They didn't have internet issues, they were on TS the whole time).

Lastly, they need to make it so that if the party leader DCs, they don't remain in game as the leader for 5+ minutes leaving people waiting and waiting for the system to resolve itself.

These are game breaking issues, and if they were fixed I'd actually run out of things to complain about for awhile. So, I'll readd them in a nice list:

  • Instantly remove disconnected players sessions so they can log back in
  • (Based off first one) Remove party leader status from disconnected players
  • If we can't invite players after a fight starts, leave DC members in the party and keep them in it once they reconnect. Like every other MMO in the world except FFXI.
  • Make servers more stable :D If people don't get kicked off TS they didn't lose their internet and shouldn't be R0ing for 30 seconds on FFXIV while talking over TS.
  • Prevent mobs agro'd after a DC from keeping your char in game unable disconnect
  • ... wishful thinking but move the servers to the USA so we get better latency Smiley: nod

The latency is actually fine for having far away servers (even latency in XI was a non issue once everyone was actually using broadband). The wards are a lot more unstable than the actual game servers (I've yet to randomly DC from the game that was due to it's servers and not my internet, but whenever I go to the wards just as they reset/crash ill disconnect) so I think for the most part the game is actual stable connection wise or my location is just close enough to Japan I don't always disconnect like some people supposedly do, but game errors are still very much present which are caused by various thing not relating to server stability. (item/dat corruption for example.)

While DC and still logged in I think was an answer to people complaining about it in XI where someone can knock you off the game if they logged into your account, on that end, but I did never get why we stay logged for a long time after DCing. That's the one thing I hope they change.

    One thing about this:

Doesn't fully mean anything. I can have internet connectivity issues (websites won't load, netflix won't stream etc) and still be using Skype. VoIP type software tend to be on different streams and not always affected.

Only partially true actually. Most MMOs will leave players in a party unless they don't log in for x amount of time (this varies by MMO) and eventually remove them.

I don't actually get this one. It's not actually the enemy keeping you logged in as I watched someone that disconnect with no aggro, not fighting stand there for a good 5 min+ long after they disconnected. It's the server itself keeping you on.

So the game is actually pretty stable in my experience, it's just the wards that's ungodly unstable.

I don't think I'm the only one that seems to constantly get the 30002 error which is a bit of a pain. The other crash I get is zone crashes where none of the mobs in a zone will load, but I can still move/chat in-game. I usually take advantage of this by running to a hard to reach aetheryte node but it's still annoying nonetheless.

I agree that the long wait times between a disconnect and when the server finally depops our character really needs to be cut down. (I hate that if I get a crash, it might take me anywhere from 5-20 minutes before I can relog back on)

What I said was, if you DC, and while DC you get agro, that mob, even if it cant kill you in a reasonable amount of time, will prevent your char from vanishing, thus preventing you from logging in, until either the mob kills you because you cant counter attack it, or someone else kills it, at which point you will instantly vanish.

It is pretty annoying when you DC while killing or crafting something, but I don't think it should be the #1 priority...

The 10min relog has been going on since, like, October. I can't believe they still haven't fixed this.

I have had DC and server issues with everything FFXIV. (That includes you ZAM. I can type a whole paragraph before the characters start showing up!) My DC come in waves, but generally revolve around finishing a leve and partying.

I play mostly solo, so this isn't a huge issue for me; but those who are looking for party play must be pretty annoyed by now. I can go for many leves without disconnects. I sometimes go for days without problems. I DO (95%) usually disconnect if I leave it on overnight. But then waves will come when I just CANNOT finish a leve. If this happens, I usually get booted right at the end. Maybe there is an problem with the packet that spawns the last levequest mobs ("the enemy has appeared.")

Because I can successfully go long periods without issues, once in a while I forget and end up joining a party for behest or something. At that point i usually experience an embarassing amount of lag, where all I can do is hope the party doesn't hate me too much. Once again, its not a big issue for me. I might party once every two weeks, and thats usually to just help someone. If I was looking for that party aspect however, and I was randomly selected as this disconnect contestant, I probably would have quit by now.

I'm really hoping that they fix this issue. Pretty much every time I DC, it is at a very important moment. I could go into details, but that would make for a very long message.

I DC at least once a night, I've not found a solution online that has worked!
I think it should be adressed urgently!
They have reduced the wards dc's so now it our turn.

Great post. Getting DC'd for whatever reason is annoying and inconvenient by nature, but it could be far less so if some things were changed. Being removed from whatever party you were in (or auto failing your leve, but that is another issue I suppose) and having to wait 10 minutes before being able to log back in make disconnecting so much worse.

(and on some level I am glad to see that I'm not the only one who seems to have connection issues mostly when doing something important, lol. The vast majority of my R0's are during behest!)

I get DC's all the time in Black Shroud were my driver stops working and recovers. Happens on no other map and I've tried every fix out there. So now I just stay in Thanalaan or La Noscea areas. Still I would love if the was a fix for these DC's too.
