Playing any game that requires the use of controller, keyboard, AND mouse is lame.
Ultimately, the UI should have the flexibility to allow the game to be comfortably and effectively played with a single device. What's it going to be like for PS3 users in its current format?
The action bar is fine, but it's limited, in that to toggle back and forth between enemy and party member you need use a macro in addition to the action bar, or totally displace the action bar with integrated target and action macros. In addition to this, the overall macro UI in this game is 20 steps back from even ffxi PS2, not to mention how horribly it compares to windower macro capability. I don't understand why it takes 10 seconds for a gear swap macro to execute. I don't want to see every item as it's removed or replaced - I just want it done, and done immediately.
I need to use a keyboard or mouse to use an item. Can't we come up with controller capability? What they did with the text window, to me, is worse than it was before. The only way I know how to scroll back thru the text window is with a mouse. That in itself is bad enough. I should be able to do that with a controller, like I could in ffxi. Now, with the patch, I need to click on the window tab with the mouse to be able to scroll back. I guess I don't see what the improvement is there?
