There's nothing more irritating than teleporting somewhere only to realize moments later that you need something off of your retainer who was in another city entirely (such as someone needs repairs with a material you're not carrying on you).
Could we please have the ability to summon retainers out of the wards? I don't mind if they don't go back to their spot afterwards (though that would be AMAZING as well). I'd just rather be able to take them with me if need be.

I don't see that happenening. As of right now I focus 1 retainer on selling and the other is my mobile moghouse. If they implimented what you suggest so many people would not need to purchase more retainers.

While I agree, I don't think forcing people to purchase additional retainers is going to sit well with folks right now anyway, hence why the ability to summon from anywhere would be handy
I might be the minority here, but I've already filled up two retainers so I could very well need a 3rd. :\
That's where you would have to decide... do I need 100 stacks of 99 cotton bolls or do I want to pay and extra dollar a month. You have more inventory space in this game right now than you do in a lot of other MMOs. There's felxibility in the system.
I currently have a nice little profit empire in UlDah, so the retainer there gets my spare tools/weapons and certain drops I plan on selling.
My other retainer gets crafting materials and a few slow drops that I'm trying to accumulate into stacks, I summon that one at the bell. The other is in the wards full time. Honestly anything above and beyond what I need now will dictate whether I'd be willing to pay that price with IRL cash. However I can easily see myself saying "fine, I guess I really don't need 5 sets of dream gear and 50 bunny helms"...

I'm taking the slow boat on this one and leveling up basically every craft, meaning that I unfortunately need to stock materials for every craft as well, hence why I've filled two retainers to the brim...
I mentioned this in a thread called 'Traveling Retainer.' I agress, but i feel there should be a sufficient cooldown. Lets give the retainers anima for themselves. The method of dismissal can be creative. I would like to see it as a carrier pigeon DOL class ability (and other general correspondance. )
