the idea was my response to this thread: http://ffxiv.zam.com/forum.html?forum=152&mid=129321358730856832&page=1
and i thought it may be interesting to see what other people think:
I have always hoped for a bill-board style player quest.
so, there can be a message board where any players can go leave a message on the board in different categories, and offer a reward.
for example, if I need 10 goblin masks, I can go to the board, and under item category, type a brief message saying i will need 10 goblin masks, and the reward is 100,000 gil. I will need to put 110,000 gil into the system, 100,000 gil for reward, and 10,000 gil for the bill board service. So, whoever submit the 10 goblin masks will receive the 100,000 gil, and the 10 goblin masks will be delivered to my mailbox.
it can be a mercenary service, too: though this one is probably much harder to implement. For example, I need to finish mission x, and I need somebody with higher level. So, I put on the bill-board. "Need to pass mission x. estimated time 3 hours, reward 1,000,000 gil." Again, I will need to put 1,100,000 gils into the system, then the bill taker will need to confirm with me to initiate my quest and will need to put a wager of 10% of the total reward into the pot to reduce the chance that the bill taker is just playing other people for a fool. Once confirmed, the objective will need to be achieved within 3 hours. And once upon completion of the mission, the bill taker will receive 1,000,000 gils + the 10% wager from the bill taker itself. If in the end it fails, the bill taker will lose the wager, and the quest giver will lose 100,000 gil system fee, and get back the 1,000,000 gil reward.
the above is a little difficult to program, i think, because it is hard to set particular parameters to define "mission objectives" but then that's not my problems to worry about, lol. I am just giving out whimsical stuffs here
