Well im sure you are aware but the boat ride takes to much so here a little bit of a suggestion
Add 1 npc that sell low level fishing poles and lures
Make the boat trip 10 minutes or less
Add some "animation" to the boat moving it kinda sucks right now
feel free to add your opinion.

My thinking would be.. let the boat get attacked by pirates or raiders. Thus you could gain xp on the long boat ride..let it last about the same as a behest.
Usually a behest lasts 10-15 minutes thats exaclty the same amount of time as a boat ride.
If people dont want to they can just choose not to. just like a behest.

Pirates! Yes, Please. One of the few thing I actually miss from XI...
I wish that the rank of the water on the ferry would randomly change. I get 0 SP fishing on the ferry now - which is sad cause I actually used to enjoy that.

Yes to Pirates or a sea horror or anything random or different.
Being attacked by pirates was awesome I actually rode the ferry for no reason other then a chance of an attack multiple times in FFXI.

Would be cool to add pirates n stuff to the boats :)
but then i remmeber in xi. i rode the boat like 20 times over a couple of weeks and saw pirates maybe half the time. then i got this quest where i needed a sand charm or some item from the pirates. took me 31 boats to get the dam thing.

I would love to have the boat rocking a lot when the weather is bad. right now, right in the middle of a big storm (seeing the rain and the thunder) the water is flat, thats dull :x
That and some more random activity like in FF11 (fishing some NM, pirate atk, some random mob on the deck etc.)
