Maybe it's just me, but watching as I AoE a mob that is literally standing behind me is getting aggrivating. I really don't understand why it happens, or why the AoE cone for THM is just so freakin ridiculous. I can't seem to hit mobs right in front of me, but you better believe I'll hit something about 100 feet up and off to the side. It's absolutely unnecessary and makes me not even want to level the class anymore. =/

Would also be nice if when you equipped a spell you could set whether it was aoe or single target so you didn't have to worry about your casting mode... and then if you could equip multiple instances of a spell so you could have an aoe version and a single target version equipped at the same time...

Hmm I have never ever hit a mob behind me, even if one is standing right next to you, it will miss the cone.

The cone is massively long, and around 40-45 degrees from (facing center).

Compared to CON AoE, its actually feasible to use at a range for party healing etc. Certainly a crap-shoot for dropping debuffs / damage, as you almost always will pull in extra mobs.

CON AoE heals, etc, mean you either heal the melee, or yourself and melee but leave yourself open to all the AoE mob damage ...

With Firm Conviction being next to useless now, the large THM cone has a great advantage of keeping yourself alive by ranging the incoming damage.

you could use macros in which you have an AoE version and a single target version. I do this on my CON. /aoe on or /aoe off as the first line of these macros makes my life simpler.

for me cone AoE is bugged, not only THM, but some ability like ARC's Quick Nock is hitting mob outside my screen, or even few malm directly behind me.

Maybe it's just a glitch for some people then. I know you can ask my duo partner about it, on several occasions I have hit a mob that is directly behind me, yet it won't hit something directly in front of me, or will hit ONE mob that's in front of me and miss the other 2 that should easily be within the cone. I wish maybe there was some indication of where the cone would land or something, because as it is I find that I can't even play the class with AoE on, or else I have to become a full time healer because I always end up pulling adds from weird spots for no reason. Oddly enough, I never have issues with rogue hate on Conjurer.
