I think this is a cool feature and would like to see it get implemented as an option for crafters. Would be sort of a cool way for crafters to increase their "fame" so to speak.

Also, I think SE should make at least some crafted items BOE so items don't simply lose their value over time due to oversaturation of the market.

Its a cool idea but then you ahve to look longer to find an item thats not made by someone with an obnoxious name like Cornyboob Funnyname ;)

The current state of the wards might make this a bit harder but probably no so much that the feature should be avoided.

Personally as a crafter I would love some free advertising. Something like I made this awesome hat that this guy you think is so awesome you had to check him would go a long way to help crafters out.

Bound on Equip? pretty decent idea i think. just have to make it pretty good stuff. i cant see many people paying for BOE on something thats only marginally better than non boe stuff.

Actually I don't think putting a name on a finished product would cause any issues, especially if they did it somewhat like they did in FFXI where you needed special crystals to do so. Having the signature be based off an item that isn't easily obtainable would keep the signing of items for special people / occasions and not just to advertise yourself (since there are probably 300+ other crafters who can and have made the exact same thing anyway :p )

Not sure how I feel about the BOE idea though, I like the idea of being able to repair and hand down my old items to new players / friends in need.

I really, really miss being able to leave my 'mark' on a crafted item like we did in FFXI. It was nice to be able to make something for someone.

As for BoE? Hmm. I'm kind of wary of the idea, but I think it could work if the materials for the synth were extremely rare. It'd make it so someone would have to work hard to get that item, so when you saw it around town - status symbol because you know they didn't inherit.^^

I can not believe you guys are actually disagreeing on Bound on Equip items. As a mid level crafter, I make about 70-120 finished items and put on wards per each level.

The value of all items are being depreciated over time due to over saturation of the market. BOE on some finished items are needed or else items will be worthless to craft very soon.

i think craftable shinies would be great as BOE. it'd be almost identical to xi's EX tag. going along an xi thought path. having things like bounding boots or empress hairpin craftable and boe...

someone can buy em and equip them but soon as equipeed they become EX. some nice shinies working like this would be great for crafters.

one of the principle causes of mass deflation in xi was the sheer supply of pieces at all levels. from low level seer's to high end prism capes. with hundreds of people trying to craft things for the +1 the normal supplies were huge.

then with the level sync suddenly you could find 1000 of everything on the ah for next to nothing.

going back to xiv though making some nice crafty shinies of similar desirability to leaping boots and empress pins would be a nice addition give them a nice edge over standard equipment but make them boe.

the problem i see with 14 is thefact you can equip anything at any level pretty much. at rank 17 i use a rank 30 bow (partly cos its better power than the one i had prior, partly cos was the only bow i could find for a price i felt reasonable) and with this system i've essentially made every bow between my old rank 8 bow and my rank 30 bow worthless and i feel this is why i can never see any appropriately ranked gear for sale.

i personally think se should eiher make the penalties much bigger for using higher ranked stuff or implement a system where gear is equipped by level but optimised by rank. for example i cant equip a 40 body piece until my physical level is 40 but if i then change to a rank 10 class i can still equip it but its stats will be drastically less.

i feel this would add some value to lower-mid level stuff.

An oversaturated market will happen very quickly in FFXIV with the crafting system. BoE would do a little to help that situation. If it where to be done the way I'd like to see it would be you do a synth with a normal quality item and some special ingredient. Make the special ingredient fairly common and give the synth base 30% to 50% fail rate and higher when the crafter's skill is two low. The failed synths will remove a lot of the garbage gear from the economy allowing crafters an oprotunity to create more items. The successfull synths will then be much more expensive as the result of higher costs as they should be anyway.

Being able to vendor the excess for a reasonable price would also help with the oversaturation.
