The slot system for accessories must be extinguished (was foFollow

SE probably made accessories have number of slots to promote "gearing strategy" but as it is now its just plain dumb.

I have 3 brass rings 2 earrings and a chocker. They are level 18, now im level 30. I want silver ones. But what happens if i decide to "upgrade"? Instead of 6 accessories i can only use 4 and i would even lose accuracy on my rings.

Theres no need for balancing gear if you are buying gear 10 levels above. They MUST BE BETTER. So as it is now, switching from brass to silver is a downgrade.

SE should just get rid of this number of slots per accessory and let us fill them all. Helps crafters who will sell more, helps adventurers making it simple to upgrade pretty much like gear and weapons.

I'd like to see tools be a seperate inventory. Carrying around the main and off for every craft I do (which is all of them) takes up a ton of my inventory...which is ridiculously limited as it is, especially with the emphasis on crafting. How am I supposed to do the crafts you want me to do when I can't even store the mats?!

Actually, Brass to Silver Rings is an upgrade for pure accuracy. Silver to Electrum is the downgrade.
But yeah, the slot system is really out of whack.

I have no problem with the Slot system. If you want 4 more accuracy, you need to unequip your choker. (Keep in mind that+ACC is much much more important of a stat than say +DEX).

I agree, though, that the other stats on the rings (defense, magic defense, etc.) should be buffed more from Brass to Silver to make up for loss of stats on the Choker/other accessories.

It can work, but it seems their math is a bit off so far (either that, or they want to you sacrifice some defense for plus accuracy... who knows).

edit: how do others post later than me, say the same thing, and get rated up? hmph.

I like that we have what, 8-10 slots and can only fill 6 of them. Its nice to have that kind of customization. However, I agree, that when regular items have slot values higher, and cause an overall reduction in stats is crappy. I'd assumed that basic jewelery would keep at 2 points each, and if you were to get rare or special gear that would cost more.

I always assumed the slot system was there so that future premium jewelry would be more "efficient" and only require 1 slot. This could either be NM drops or, or they could make it so that HQ+2 crafted accessories require 1 less slot.

If HQ accessories required less slots this could make them very rewarding for crafters. Exisiting HQ items are underwhelming to say the least.

Lets face it, there are a hundred minor annoyances like this we could pick out in the game, but they are like Tadpoles Vs. Blue Whales in comparison to the larger issues. Bring this thread back in a year or two, now is the wrong time.

Minor annoyance? The gear you equip is fundamental to the game, no matter what class you are. If theoretical 'upgrades' are hurting overall stats, that's a problem. This is a pretty basic game mechanic. Why waste your time posting in a thread that's unimportant to you?

i think furia's point is that you can still kill stuff with sub-par gear, there are other things in the game that are much more broken atm and require more attn.

Oh, so there's a moratorium in talking about things that effect the game? We're all supposed to continue talking about no auction house, no content, and "UI lag"? Didn't get the memo...

I was just trying to point out that SE (and most players for that matter) are going to completely ignore problems like this until the larger issues are addressed. Not really sure why you took such offense to that Volta, but I guess I was just pointing out the obvious.

Your pointing out the obvious is precisely why I took "offense" to it. Some of us, clearly, are having a discussion on issues that do matter to us. Given that this was originally posted in the main forum, the OP didn't care if SE reads this or not. You're right, there are bigger issues, and they've all been exhaustively beaten to death. No need to hijack a thread if you having nothing relevant to add.

Why, by buying more retainers from SE of course, silly!

I dont have very many larger issues..

I can deal without a AH ive made it this far already without one. The other minor minutia that they are fixing is meh waste their time stuff. Making the game cryptic with slot counts and accessory limitations is just plain stupid.

Maybe your idea of whats broken with the game isnt our idea seriously the world revolves under us not around just you.

I think that tweaking the slot cost system in a manner similar to this would be intersting and if done properly would turn out better than if it was removed at all. If it was tweaked so that NM drops or higher tier HQs required less slot points than regular items it would still make us plan and tweak gear more to get the most out of what is available to us, as opposed to just having cookie cutter accesory set ups on each job. Honestly I would prefer to see this than the total removal of slot cost, but as it is now it's pretty pointless.

I'm in agreement with the OP, the system is not only odd but detrimental to how you play. Why does it even exist? It's not as if there is a physical limitation on wearing jewelry. If the idea is to limit the benefits of accessories then why not limit the bonuses instead?

I can't upgrade without becoming weaker either :(

Necro bump... this is still by far one of the most frustrating things in game as both a goldsmith and a DoM....

I can make myself any number of rings / necklaces / earrings / bracelets but I am wearing some really crappy ones on my 33 THM because thats the best option.

Either you need to

implement higher levels having more slots
or
Drop the slot system entirely
or
make all jewellry 2 slot cost

Throw the goldsmith a little love here... nobody upgrading anything = nothing to sell at the higher levels... makes levelling goldsmith utterly pointless
