I would like to see the ability to pass leadership of a linkshell or company to another member. Too often in FFXI, I saw linkshell leaders quit/get banned, and the other members had to recreate a new linkshell. I think it would be more efficient to be able to pass leadership off to someone else without having to go through this hassle. In the event of a ban, where the leader doesn't have time to pass leadership, have it fall randomly to one of the sackholders, who can then pass it to someone else if they don't want it.

Hear, hear!

We had to go from "Wanderers" to "theWanderers" as a result of that.

I had no idea before that if your LS leader got banned then the entire LS was lost. Hmm. I do like the idea that LS leaders have that responsibility of needing to care about others when conducting themselves, but I also see your point in why a member has to suffer for the fault of one.

Wow, this is a tough one. Very good topic.

Okay, I'm going to have to side with the way things are. Creating a LS should be a big choice, and only those who can create healthy gatherings should be able to do it.

As much as I'd like to agree with Futz, sometimes things just.. happen to those seemingly great leaders. And once a small community grows into something more, one person shouldn't be able to simply own it.. and forever at that.

...
I don't even know what I just said, but it sounded cool. *grin*

I do agree with your point here. However, if that isn't the case regarding the leader's absence then its sort of a moot point. What if they're legitimately VERY sick? Or if theres a family emergency? Or they start a new job that takes up all of their time? There are so many factors that go into why someone would have to be away from the game for extended periods of time. I think having the option to pass the torch is a great idea in this case.

Most linkshell leaders I've known that have disappeared have literally.. disappeared. So I don't think they had the time to pass leader status to someone else before they did.

Wouldn't it be better if they had something higher than linkshell sack, but lower than leader? Like, where you can promote other people to sackholders, but not break the whole linkshell. I remember in City of Heroes, if you were offline for more than a month, you got demoted to normal member, and the person who was last online was the leader. It got kind of annoying if you just wanted to take a break from the game, though.

I'd be a little paranoid if they had pass-the-leader, since I've heard a lot of stories about leaders getting into relationships with random new members, I bet there'd be at least once incident where a leader would pass the status to their partner, and TERRIBLE THINGS WOULD HAPPEN!
