I don't really care, it's pretty blatant haha, or just a big coincidence. In the end I doubt anything legal will come of it so it's not a big deal.

That reddit link at the end of Hyrist's post is pretty informative. Sounds like Powerman 5000 just wanted some attention.

I just saw that one Facebook post and I think it's fair enough. A ton of people jumped on the similarity immediately. I mean, you just need ears. If they go any farther than that then it's just desperation.

I just listened to the FFXIV boss music and the original Powerman song, and I'm honestly floored that anyone would think Soken's song is a ripoff. Though XIV's song clearly emulates the genre, the two pieces sound totally different.

Industrial is huge in Japan, so it make sense they'd go with this style, since Soken said from the get go it's one of his favorite genres. It's not as big these days in the west, so of course despite how much time have passed, people immediately go to Powerman 5k since that era was the last time it was really in the Limelight.

Its personal preference and all, but yes we need to educate WoW players that this is OUR game, these are Characters and not Toons. Time to beat that into them one at a time.

Whether it's a ripoff or not, I for one hate how the actual cool music in the fight is replaced halfway through by some trash.

Yeah that was my problem with it. This awesome FF6 remix is replaced by ... screaming. Sigh.

A matter of tastes.

I found it a smart choice. Last two times that The Sephriot (Yes, counting Sephiroth) was involved by FFXIV, we were starting to get into Industrial Rock. There's also the point of Industrial rock and the themes it often takes, which fit very, very well with the Fiend thematically.

I've got no problem with Industrial, having liked a few songs from the typical bands (NIN, KMFDM, PWM5K, Ramnstein) during their popular stint in the west. So having it pop with the theme of Sephriot, was actually kinda cool in my book.

I wonder if that's what they're doing with all 3. Starting out with the starting theme of FFXIV and then branching into a more unique song. Wonder what the other two of the Warrior Triad will invoke.
