I'm not a fan of massive patch delays, but new raid tiers only come out every other patch, so your raid gear spends about 6 months before the next tier comes out.

exactly and even then THATS not mandatory.. this whole game is optional you can CHOOSE not to do ANY of it and still play/level/craft etc etc, you know thats how mmos work you CHOOSE what to do and what not to do.
