Its a bad habit. I still call enmity threat, damage dealers dps, etc etc. Issues with different game lingo.

DPS is the correct term in this game.

DD is a Japanese term which is why it was part of FFXI's little pocket language.

For FFXIV (at least in the NA/EU regions) you want: enmity, dps (both the role and the statistic), job (for combat), class (for non-combat or super-newbie levels), character (not toon because people will have a fit), "turn" for Coil, "floor" for Alexander.

Huh. I totally never even realized that Callinon and I were on the same server. I haven't played WoW in a while (tried out WoD but quit again after a few months) but most of my characters are alliance on Sargeras too. (these guys)

If you had to pick which class you want to see a guide on. Which would it be? Or even which order of them would you like to see?

Depends on how comprehensive you want to be with it. In the context of "guides for new players" I doubt class guides are really necessary... leveling isn't much more than "push buttons...make things fall down...repeat." Rotations don't become either complicated or important until endgame at which point you aren't dealing with a new player anymore.

If you were trying to branch out though, you'd almost certainly have to do them all and I'd start with whichever jobs you're most familiar with while you research the others.

I'm thinking more along the lines of a detailed rotation, class mechanics and ways to cheat death. This coming from a raider point of view. And I spend time looking and playing each class so I can figure out which is the best for what jobs etc. Habit from previous years.

That's not really a new player sort of topic though.

If you're doing it from a raider point of view, start with Void Ark or Alexander 1, which are the two things a fresh 60 are most likely to hit as a serious raid that gives them trouble these days. "My First 8 Man Raid" type thing.

I'd stress the importance of DoTs, dodging over positioning, etc. For example, bard and machinist each have multiple abilities that ignore the cast time caused by WM and GB. Knowing that you can dodge whenever those abilities are up will affect your rotation, but I see so many fellow bards and machinists just stand in one place like a dummy during them.

Yeah. One very bad habit is counting on healers to save you from everything. This will be a guide for players who are more familiar with mmo tropes. Doing Bard first

Triple Triad Video is up. It's something I've been wanting to make for a long time. Honestly I'd take a stand alone game!

You can see the video here!

I re-uploaded to correct an error that occured during the publishing process.

Very glad you find them useful. It is overall a very well made MMO. I have some gripes of course but I think Square did a good job creating a fun world to play with others.

Class videos will be coming soon so look forward to those :)

Have fun in there :D

I'll be streaming FF14 in the following weeks as I get footage and the like for class guides. Feel free to pop in and maybe play with me. If you have a high level class you want to show off feel free to stop in and we can get some Glam shots.

You can check my stream at http://www.twitch.tv/chesderman

Will be doing Dark Knight first, followed by Paladin and Warrior
