Red Scrips

Maybe I misunderstood the whole point of scrips. I thought it was supposed to be an alternate method of getting gathering and crafting gear (while saving Gil) but the fact that it takes 8-9 weeks just to gear one class seems a bit ridicules to me.

I also find it odd that it takes scrips to get the mats necessary to craft the normal gear anyway so most people that plan on leveling most if not all of their crafting and gathering classes will spend it on materials. I mean, to me it looks like another wall they put up on crafting and gathering when I thought the whole point was to make it easier for the average Joe crafter/gatherer to get to that point where they can make the stuff they want to make.

tl,dr
Scrips are used for favors to collect materials and not for actual gear progression.

I posted that on the lodestone forums and was looking for more input.

Can be for both..just think of it as a giant:

"There's no content here, it's time to push against this wall until 3.1 once you've finished with Alexander story."

So in reality..it's basically a limit ontop of a limit which is really....odd when you think of it as a progression system but makes sense when you look at it as busy work until the next update. You need, iirc, 10-12k red scripts, which will take you quiiiiiiite awhile.

It's something that's meant to take a while IMO. Some people will look at this and think "OMG, it's the best gear in the game, I need to do everything possible that I can do in order to get it as soon as possible", but I think most of us will be just fine using the stuff a step or two under it for quite awhile. Chances are that as time goes by either the cost of these items or the amount of scrips we get will be modified to make it easy to catch up anyways.

Is there really anything in the game currently that you need all of this BiS stuff to craft? Not yet (AFAIK). I think right now we *are* at the point where the average crafter can make just about anything they want, with a few starred recipes at level 60 to reward those who put more time into it (which you still don't need all this BiS stuff to make).

Right now it's just a carrot at the end of the stick for the most hardcore crafters to chase after. I think most of the rest of us can afford to wait (and I'm a fairly hardcore crafter myself).

Second thread in as many weeks ******** about scrips... It's an alternate way to get gear, that's it. SE at no point promised that it would be easy or fast. If you don't want to put in the time or effort, don't. It's that simple.

Using this logic SE at no point promised it would be like this. They actually said it was a system similar to DoW/DoM tome progression..except it has extra gates on it in comparison.

As always, the better your crafting gear the easier it is to maximize your crafts and the better your gathering gear the more efficient. So you don't NEED it..but if you want to maximize your output more easily, you do need the best gear possible. For example good luck making the 60 gear HQ with only a supra. and full NQ ramie set.

It's not an alternate way to do anything.

Want to gather everything? Scrips are mandatory. Want to craft everything? Get Scrippin'.

Clearly we should go back to having 1-2 total active threads in a week. Boo conversation!

This is a red Scrip thread. So your poins invalid.*Wiggles eye brows*

Seriously though Blue script master crafts is **** easy to get in comparison to break through the first rank of master crafts.(took me roughly 15 crafts counting the failed ones to get enough scrips for my master book.) With just an HQ main hand 58 and a HQ off hand 59 and the first tier of HQ 60 gear(That only ran me roughly 600 700k which isn't bad considering how much money to be made on making raw materials.) Meanwhile I remember how much of a huge road block Darksteel hooks were without a fully materia'd set to the gills. Even then you still had a lot of luck involved.

Sorry, was there another way to gather favor items? Or obtain the BiS set for gathering?

Honestly there might be, this system is really poorly explained right now. But I was pretty sure you had to use favors to do this.

well to be honest I am not sure about gathering. But if you want all the recipes you only need blue. You'll need to materia bind up to be able to craft the gear for the job exclusive gear and the new tier of tools but you don't have to touch red at all to obtain or craft any of it.

Average Joe does not need to cap red scrips everyweek, just do as much as they want or can afford until SE nerf the turn in like they did in 2.45
