Weekly goals and accomplishments 7/17 - 7/23Follow

What do you plan to do this week?

Weekend:
- Finish 2 more mahatmas on WAR
- Actually run Alexander for really reals (never got in one of our FC groups....)
- Finish SMN 60 quest
- Help the FC "casual coils" group get through T5 if necessary. We burned through 1-4 last night, was lots of fun

Next week:
- Finish all remaining mahatmas on WAR and get to 54
- GSM to 56 to start collectibles
- Miner to 56 to start collectibles

I really slacked on my crafting and gathering classes. Got too involved in getting stuff to 60.

Good news! You can start collectables at level 51. Scrips open up at 56 but good luck with that unless you have melded leveling gear.

As for me, I got my Hive Kris yesterday. Need to spam some Alexander to get loot out of A1-A3 (got a body token in A4 with the static). Then get ready for savage opening up on Tuesday.

I think I can probably also have my MIN at 60 this week. Then we see if scrips really are just stupid or if it's possible to obtain them without spending bazillions of gil as advertised.

1. Got my crank from floor 3, so that does it for gear this week. Tank has 4 pieces, ilvl 183. Next week Tuesday focus on getting 1 pedal, 1 bolt, and 1 shaft or spring (or 2 of either). Don't know if I'll be raiding the new alex hm content, key healer can't play for a few weeks. Bummer. I may join a pickup if I see it open.

2. Keep leveling Arcanist and craft / gather jobs.
Got weaver to 57 last night off some marathon crawler silk making + leve turnins. Goal is to progress.
Got arcanist to 56. Tri-disaster is very useful. Goal is to have acn at 58 by end of next week.

3. Make more progess on Ravana. Every group i join does the double preys in such an oddball funky way. Last night as bard in a FARM group, they had me pick up the prey initially at c, the other prey at a, and tanks pick it up second. Why? The idea is that tanks get it first and pop hallowed do they dont get vulnerability and tank two hits. But anyway, here I am at c, guy drops off prey to me, I get hit, and here comes the tank afterwards. And the tank sometimes had a purple circle. So there is me, with a hit of vulnerability, trying my best to stay still while this guys with a circle runs over and tries to stand on me, and then me having to pop sprint and get out of the circle before I die, because Bard+Vulnerability+Purple Circle = Dead. Stupid...

That's the standard strategy for double prey actually. When the tank picks it up off you, you should run to B and try to not be in a purple circle. If you ARE in a purple circle, you can still sometimes survive if you get healed in time as long as you aren't in more than one. You're right that a PLD can soak both hits with hallowed, but since not every tank is a PLD, this isn't a reliable tactic to use.

Next Step for Lin: Filling out the Right Side and investigate what effort is needed for Esoterics gear. (I wonder if it will be dyeable?) Work on gear sorting so space is open to work on THM and CNJ to get background skills for AST.

Next Step for Eric: Onwards and upwards with the storyline and the levels. Loving the fact that Arcanist has a 2 for 1 special on job development. It makes that class an ultimate go-to for an alt character. That said, will be spending some time working on getting Lancer up to Blood for Blood levels to set up for Eric's MCH.

RP Wise: More foreshadow development for Lin, leading into a major transformative moment for her. Tomorrow is the pitch-day for the mre table-top style RP night for our FC, hoping that goes over well but I'm not sure the level of interest I'll get. I have a hard cap of people I will take so I'm hoping for a select few.

Anyways, overall, the game is starting to look up again. Which is a really great thing.

Agreed it is the "common" strategy, but its stupid and inefficient, and full of RNG. Regardless of a paladin presence, why not take the variability of the circle out of it 100% by doing this:

1. Room marked A at north, B at East, C at South, D assumed west.
2. Final liberation casts, two people get prey.
3. Those two go to A and B respectively. Rest of party stands between C and D.
4. Final liberation finished casting, Ravana charges at prey targets at A and B. Circles appear same time on three targets without prey (who should be between C and D).
5. One circle goes to C, one circle goes to D, one circle is in between C and D, all on edge of arena, staggered so that no more than one circle hits a person.
6. Three are left without circles or prey. One of those will hang back between C and D in a circle, the other two without circles/prey go and pick up prey at A and B and stay there for the second hit.
7. The people who had prey originally and got hit and have vulnerability will stand still and let the prey be passed, then will move to the edge of the area in between A and B. Then once Ravana charges and the circles explode, everyone stacks center, heals up and prepares to move out to avoid garuda wind.

Saw another strategy that I like as well:

1. Room marked A at north, B at East, C at South, D assumed west.
2. Final liberation casts, two people get prey.
3. Those two go to A and C respectively. Rest of party stands at D.
4. Final liberation finished casting, Ravana charges at prey targets at A and C. Circles appear same time on three targets without prey (who should be at D).
5. One circle goes in-between A and D, one circle goes to D, one circle is in between C and D, all on edge of arena, staggered so that no more than one circle hits a person.

7. The people who had prey originally and got hit and have vulnerability will stand still and let the prey be passed, then will move to the edge of the area at B. Then once Ravana charges and the circles explode, everyone stacks center, heals up and prepares to move out to avoid garuda wind.

I suppose that they are the same strategy generally, just the second one gives the folks with prey debuff more wiggle room, and the first strategy gives the circles more area to work with.

But having someone with a circle, tank or not, go to pick up that prey while the guy with the debuff has to run like mad to get to B before it goes off is just unnecessary and causes way too many deaths imo. Only circumstance where I can see it being good is if you have people who are unreliable at picking up the preys after the first hit to have someone designated, like a tank, run over and stand at A or C, regardless of circle.

But in all honesty the biggest issue my pugs lately have been related to the moment after swords, where the red + appears with purple circles. No one goes to the right quadrant and everyone dies due to stacked up circles and burns. And if they make it past that part, everyone panics on double prey. Always.

Busy week.

So far i got Paladin to 60, Miner to 60 and Goldsmith to 60.

Also got my Dark Knight to 50. Kinda used up all the EXP quests on PLD, so it might be a tad more painful to go beyond that, but atleast i dinged into a set of i130 gear :)

Just a tiny part of the main story left to do, but i wanna completely gear out PLD in Doman gear first before i take it on.

Gathering and crafting is super fun. Cant wait to take up my Blacksmith and Botanist to 60 next.

Those were all the goals i got done this week so far.

Still up for next week: - Make more friends to invite to my wedding >.> And recruit some FC people.

As I am on my holidays for another three weeks I am trying to recruit some static members for end game for when I return.

Somewhat unorthadox I know but this is my weekly goal plus watching alex and primal ex movies!

Paladin at 184 now. Smiley: grin Upgraded to the 190 shield and sword this weekend. Quite possibly the most stylish pieces this game had to offer. Smiley: cool See #3 below.

Got my acn to 58, about 1/2 of the way to 59. I love going into bahamut trance. Smiley: sly Pulled hate off of the tank many times in the vault with terrible gear, so I know I'm doing it right.

I'm about halfway done with this GC turn-in-spend-all-my-money-crafting-expensive-items-i-can't-keep nonsense. Smiley: oyvey 60 crp, 55 bsm, 54 arm, 54 gsm, 56 ltw, 58 wvr, 54 alc, 53 cul, 55 min, 59 bot, 50 fish. I'll worry about scrips when everything hits 60.

The Fish levels alone. That part is supposed to be slow and enjoyable. The gc turn-in fish are ridiculously expensive. Just like anything that uses those alchemist dissolvant potions you make from deepeye tears. Ridiculously overpriced. I've actually sat out and killed a bunch of deepeyes just for their drops. I haven't done that since the lambs in coerthas back in 2.0-2.1.

I got into a farm party this weekend and cleared Ravana.... 6 times in a row. Smiley: lol Got Sky in on one of the clears as well! Got a hive shamshir drop and used 3 of my 6 totems to buy the shield. Most amazing looking sword and shield in the game, imo. Now, 7 more clears and I get the bow, guaranteed.

We used the method where the two who get prey go stand at one end, rest of the party at the other end, circles appear, ppl with circles stay / stagger, ppl without circles go grab prey, then ppl who had prey before move to mid. Simple. Smiley: schooled
