There are plenty of stretches fights where the bard can stay planted assuming that others do their jobs properly. For example, the add phase in t10... if tanks align the ads correctly, then a bard could pretty much use this ability and blast away for the duration of the phase.
I tend to take this battle (t10) a step farther. I run a lot (while focusing the target for autoattacks, but still moving).
First adds I dot all four, drop flame arrow on the first two, and run to the second two while the other three dps finish off the first. I DPS and re-dot the second adds while standing behind them as baiting the tail swipe, strafing back and forth to dodge. Helps the healers a lot since the tail swipe is an attack they dont have to heal for, which helps them hit preys. And dotting everything deals a ton of damage.
Second set of adds, I use my usual straight shot into buffs and dots combo, heavy striking and bloodletting the A side sister then brother (which usually have a mage lb on them), then I drop dots and flame arrow on the second set of adds, then turn to the third set, dot those, turn back and bait the tail swipe on the second set.
On T11 I've got the cube on focus target while I'm hitting the sphere, and act as the fulcrum when needed, dotting the cube as necessary.
Imo, bards who can deal more damage by standing still are really just black mages. They gave us black mage mode.
