Not that it really means anything.. Wish they would say how many are active. 1 million of those could be gil sellers.
Still a impressive number... I am betting they are now over 1/2 million active maybe even above 750,000 nearing 1 million..
I see new players all over ultros but I also see lots and lots of bots.

I'm guessing the number is just for marketing, and that the timing of this free login weekend is largely unrelated to that milestone. The addition of the Golden Saucer was probably a bigger factor in the timing of the campaign than when this game reached X number of created accounts.

Probably.. I wish they would wait a bit till the congestion is gone some. That last free weekend was poorly timed too . Not to bad on ultros though, the population dropped some..

Played FFXIV for a couple months a year ago, decided I wanted to try it again and the free campaign was announced, so timing could not be better, but I have a problem.

I want to be prepared for when the time actually comes and have the client 100% downloaded and ready to do, but I cannot even download the game via the launcher without an active sub, it will not let me,

Is there any way around this?

Also, don't suggest the trial client, it only lets you log in with trial accounts.

Wouldn't a trial account at least let you download and update now, and then you can switch to your old account when the free login campaign kicks in?

It appears that the trial client and the normal client are two completely different things.

If you try putting in an existing account information into the trial client it tells you that you cannot use the client for accounts that already have ffxiv registered to the account.

It's really weird and I have never encountered something like this before.

It's very ironic, I just downloaded the free trail client and made a new account to play/test it.

1 day later this campaign is announced

yay me!

Just to be on the safe side, since the free trail client has the "FT" next to it, I uninstalled and installed the main client and used the free trail account to do so.

maybe it don't matter but now my OCD wont keep me up tonight.

Super happy about this, just when I wanted to come back for a week and now I can!

I only stopped playing cause of time/personal stuff getting in the way.

I'll be getting up @ 3 am and play tomorrow.....

If it makes you feel any better, I received an email at 1pm today telling me about this free login period from SE. Where as I may have been interested in checking all the changes out since I stopped, it does remind me why I cancelled.
