Following the implementation of Patch 2.51, the Gold Saucer area is under extremely heavy congestion. In certain Worlds, players may not be able to enter the Gold Saucer area because it has reached maximum occupancy.

If you find that you cannot enter the Gold Saucer area, please wait awhile and try again.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, and thank you for your patience and cooperation.

Well it happened and it is not even close to the busiest time of the day....
Now I guess allot of the people are AFK and not logging just so they can get back in... sounds like launch.

Some very obsessed people took off work today just to be the First In.

I think there was a downside to releasing this and the relic updates as the only content today. With the normal big patches, the content is spread out so you have 25% of the group running new dungeons, 25% of the group running the new raid, 25% of the group doing the storyline, and 25% of the group doing the usual derp around whatever. Today you had 75% of the group heading to Gold Saucer with 25% derping around with the relics. Of course the zone is going to be completely full.

Besieged, anyone?

So tonight would be a good time to clean up on Hunts while everyone else is trying to get into the Golden Saucer?

Well depending how many people cant get in or will stop trying to get in might actually make it hard to get other content done like WOD, ST or CT for the weekly for Carbontwine or carboncoat now..

I dont think I will even try a dungeon run for my relic.

I dont know of anyway they could have done it different though except maybe limit the amount of time one gets per day for while in GS.
I am betting we get a update with AFK kick again real soon.

I give it a couple days and it's popularity will go down pretty quick. The mini-games/rewards will probably disappoint some and that'll be that for them. I'm a try spiritbinding or something along those lines. Materia influx will slow down thus upping the price! (Hopefully).

Choco racing is the biggest (legit return), otherwise the TT "exploit" is what most do, so yeah maybe a week people that want what they want and use it will be done with it, or there will be bots for MGP farming soon. Otherwise the only issue is the AFKers.

My response to the congestion was SE didn't anticipate how much would love the GS. SOme one said.. they did...

Explains why there is high congestion and SE didn't do anything about it... how about inactive for 30-60 minutes and sent some where else? A simple message of "You have been escorted out of the GoldSaucer for loitering".

So much to do and frankly, I love it. You spend ages earning the cards from the NPCs, spend ages doing Choco races. Which I am now 4/5 coming first and 2nd on the other.

LOVE IT!!

Have to say, SE has released something very special with the card/chocobo games, even the events are silly but fun (frustrating too!).

It was crowded on Lamia, but the only thing I was locked out of was the chocobo races because they were all full.

Something I noticed, that I don't thing a lot of people who aren't familiar with the lesser known games of the FF franchise would have caught: All the menu stuff in the training chocobo race was straight from the Chocobo Racing games for PSX. I recognized the font immediately.

We had no issues getting into any of it on our server.
It was busy but not as busy as I thought.
Got in to WOD and CT right away.
Stuff was still selling on the markets but a little slower.
So people were still doing other things.

Choco racing was fun.
Triple triad I never played before and it looks fun but I thought it would be a lot more with how much hype it got from people.
I figured getting the cards would be more of a treasure hunt.
Also would have been cool if you could play outside the GS unless I am missing something. This would make it allot more fun..
Tes and I thought it would be cool to play while waiting for a dungeon run..
I was also hoping for more casino type stuff like slots, table games, most of the side games are terrible hit a button thing.

You can. Besides being able to play with other players, there are NPCs all over the place that will play cards with you.

I agree, but there's been some speculation from others that SE needed to carefully avoid anything that looked like online gambling due to various laws. So it's probably a decision in that direction if anything.

How do you play TT with another person outside GS? We could do it inside by challenging someone but the option is gone outside.
Also the npc outside once you beat them they loose there symbol above them? you can still play them? I didn't try.

It looks like this is just the start of GS. Saw a few doors that were locked.

Yeah, you can keep challenging them. And you should because basically all of them have cards for you to win.

You can challenge another player the same way you do in the GS, but you have to be in an area that allows TT matches. You get a little chat log line every time you cross into an area where TT is either allowed or not allowed. There doesn't seem to be a concrete rule to it (like all indoor areas or anything like that).

I'm not sure why it was necessary to prohibit TT matches outside of designated card game zones, but I assume there was a reason for that.

The only thing actually confirmed by yoshi himself was they originally intended to use the mog station to sell card packs but due to laws they had to axe the idea. Also the fact they wanted to rip this from VII there wasn't exactly those kind of games there, so if anything it's missing a submarine and snowbording minigame.

I can't imagine what they will do with the MGP. Buy cool stuff? I don't think any of it is sellable or tradable for gil, is it?

Nope, but for some people it's like running a gather bot, while some like the gathering and even find it fun (there are some lol) the usual just want the end-goal. Considering the Fenrir mount is 1,000,000 MGP, short of winning the lottos that's quite a ton of grinding of any GS content, and what comes with grinds are people wanting to maximize and make it as easy for them as possible. So to get say a full set of items you want, it's basically 1.5m MGP, not counting the ones spent on cards and such, including Cloud's card which too is 1,000,000 MGP.

So I can kind of see why some would want to "automate' the grind. I mean I do have 47,000 MGP just from doing TT and GATES all day yesterday so it's not like it's hard.

I know you can play cards in Buscarron's Druthers at the moment. There are a few places where you can outside the saucer. There was a request to make it possible in the FC houses, and they developers are working on implemeting that, last I heard.

I need to work on collecting better non-rare cards I guess. I went around and got myself two Godbert cards, the Bahamut from the King in the Golden Saucer, and bought a rare card only to get the Ultima. Plus I beat a few folks in the towns and picked up the sylph card and others.

The problem is that I can't make a deck to challenge the NPCs that has more than one rare card in it. And the rules... Chaos, everyone has chaos for some reason. And 10 three stars or better. It feels like when I was 13 years old playing my friend in magic the gathering for the first time, where he made up all the rules and stacked his deck with all the best cards.

I guess having all those cards will be handy come tournament time, but the NPCs (especially the random ones in towns) are mindboggingly rng at the moment.

47k, thats pretty good! I've been running Qarn HM over and over and over so I only managed to stack up 3k (which I spent, but got an ultima card!). The GATE I did really didnt give me all that much MGP, so I just beat the king over and over.

Well there is something to me that is wrong with the whole thing that makes the whole GC thing uneven. I went and changed my gill to mgp but only did a little to try I out but if you have over 500 mgp it wont let you buy more. I was thinking I would go back and buy more MGP later. Those that trade in more gil have a huge advantage.
I mean the extra cards cost allot and also the choco enhancing items.

I think they did that to combat RMT. Pretty much the only non-consumable item you can get with the 500 max gil to MGP is the Bronze cards for TT. (You can go play with Moogle Claws to get that to 520 in about a minute, which is the cost.) Anything over that 500 is something you have to earn one way or another.
