I'm a touch disappointed that the bunnygirl outfit is female only.

I can imagine a line of Roe Male 'showgirls' step-dancing in time by the Mor Dhona Aetherite...

is there any info on triple triad? like can we make custom decks? can we play anywhere or just gold saucer? That was such an awesome mini-game in ff8, I'm really looking forward to it.

You can set up 5 decks. You can play against NPCs in the Gold Saucer, some NPCs elsewhere, and players.

And it apparently plays Shuffle or Boogie when you play it.

if triple triad is anywhere near as fun as it was in FF8 then i will spend an ungodly amount of time playing. I WILL HAVE ALL THE CARDS.

Very, very rarely do you see male 'bunny' outfits, even in Japan lol.

and...disappointed again. I was hoping, just praying, that to get cards all I had to do was play cards. but no, I'm forced, yet again, to do things I don't want to do. forget it, i'll stick with ff8's version.

It is pretty silly but it does make sense in concept, just not execution because a lot of this content is outdated or optional content. You can get primal cards from either version (HM/EX) but there's almost no reason to do Titan Ex. Ever.

Or you can grind certain NPCs for some cards. (At a low percentage.)

You know I don't care because I love what SE has released. They were never going to get perfect but what they have done is released a better GS that I expected by far.

Triple triad was never going to be exactly the same as FF8, just like the Golden Saucer was never going to be FF7 and the Chocobo racing to go with it. Instead they have seriously released something which made me completely forget to do dailies!!!

I didnt think it was going to be exactly the same either. But i also thought that the minigame in question would be self contained. I tried getting a leviathan and titan card off their respective hard modes. 15 tries for both, and didnt even get 1 card. I got 4 cards from playing and beating the guy beside the start Npc. The spades guy. I played him 50 times (i counted) and got 4 cards. One of those four were duplicates. Those cards didn't really help me either.

It still plays like triple triad, but with a very small pool of cards it seems, at least right now. Its also hard to tell what level cards the npc you challenge will have. I tried playing one of the diamond npc and got destroyed. I had to guess based on the entry fee/reward for the match to know how strong they were. And the drop rate for new cards is rediculously low. Like i said i played spades guy and got 4 cards out of 50 wins. None of those cards made an impact on my deck as they were all starter level cards.

with 30 runs of primals and no cards to show for it im not going to go out of my way to build a deck. This is the only thing i was looking forward to since i heard about it. I dont think im crazy for wanting to build my deck of cards...by playing the content in question. But the drop rates are too low and infrequant for me to really have fun with it. Another grind for the sake of grinding.

Those cards may not have a direct impact on your deck, but they have an indirect one. Until you have 30 unique cards, you can only have ONE card 2 star ranked or higher in your deck, so grinding out the 1 star cards improves the overall quality of your decks eventually. I've just hit 30 cards, and I can now have as many 2 star or lower cards in my deck as I like, and 1 card that's 3 stars or above.

Is there some where that the rules are? Seems to be allot of rules.. How is anyone who never played supposed to know that about the decks. Last night I tried to build a deck and it kept saying I have to many unique cards.. What the hell does that even mean?

The game rules are explained by the Triple Triad Master in the GS. The deckbuilding rules, as far as I know, aren't explained in the game anywhere. They were explained in the patch notes, but that's only going to do you any good if you read the patch notes (and that's less and less likely as time goes on).

As Velerophon said though, until you have 30+ cards in your collection, you're only allowed to have one card in your deck that exceeds rank 1 (1-star). After that, you can have as many rank 2 cards as you like, but only one card above that until 60 cards in your collection. After that knock yourself out, but you still only get to have one rank 5 card.

It's a little obtuse and needs to be explained better (or at all) in-game.

I didnt see that in the patch notes: All I saw was GS was added to the Active Help interface so I am guessing all the info is there..
Thanks for the info on the deck building rules.. I got a few cards last night, some npc take a long time to drop cards, I got a few of the same ones in a row..
I did pretty well beating some npc that had 2 and 3 star decks.
We were supposed to be doing stuff to grind GC seals for another Lucis and ended up running into a npc and playing that game all night instead.

These sites are good for tracking cards down

Welcome to an MMO, wouldn't be good content if it gave it to you on a silver plate and took 5 minutes to accomplish. SE cant physically make content quick enough if people were able to get what they wanted in minutes....

Anyway I thought it was also about "The Journey".

I don't know why you are even wasting your time, your PM to me is coming across as a big hypocrite. Your PM looks like you hate the game SE has made yet you ARE playing it. For some one that hates what this game is yet according to what you have said you spent ages just trying to get a card? That doesn't make sense at all. Are you paying a subscription or free trial???

p.s When your PM said "At one point people thought the world was round" - Correction - At one point people thought the world was flat, you was crazy to consider it round. That was proven when people decided to prove it wrong by fact with real physical proof and they risked their lives to do it. You say this game is crap yet you spend your time playing the game. You say people are deluded to think this game is good. (yes everyone - he PMd me to say this, which I only noticed this week which was sitting in my inbox since start of this month). I assume the PM is about the Feeling of XIV thread where people were whining about XIV not being "XI -2" as Catwho put it.

The fact you had to PM that just goes to show you are not able to show hard proof that this game is "crap". I prefer to listen to critics who gave bad reviews on 1.0 and good reviews on 2.0. The fans gave 1.0 bad comments but 2.0 again good comments. The fact people are not leaving left right and centre as well bodes well for the game.

Anyway, surely if you hated this game so much you would quit - come back in a few years time or simply go back and play XI.

actually I don't play. I'm pretty sure I made that clear in a few other threads. I keep myself subbed because I enjoy talking to the friends I've made. Sometimes I get asked to help with some content, but I am by no means playing. in fact, I would consider myself whatever is under a casual player at this point. So no, I'm not a hypocrite since I am not playing. My ilvl is 108, and has been since last june.

And about the card thing, you know full well I'm not asking to be given anything on a silver platter. I would be perfectly content with grinding cards if I had to, you know, play the activity in question to progress. It's a minigame. For fun. I called it "a grind for the sake of grinding" because it's forcing me to play content I don't want to play, and have played to death. MORE titan hard mode? really? The game must be getting top heavy already if they needed to find yet another reason for people to go back to that content.

And ya I PM'd you because I don't like you, and no one else cares or wants to know about any beef you and I are having. Pretty mature of you to share. You have this tone when you talk that just pisses me off more than it should. You are like the complete opposite of killua, if you even know who that is. He was probably a troll, but disliked the game. You seem like a troll, but who likes the game. You made a pretty amazing comment in one of the other threads "this game is utter brilliance". I guess every other MMO is just as brilliant since 14 takes a lot of ideas from those other games. But honestly it doesn't matter. Like the game, don't like the game, whatever. I kept this between you and me, but you want to take this into the public square so be it. That actually says a lot more about you than it does about me.

And by the way, I think all MMO's since WoW came along are crap. Tried them all, don't like any. Only FFXI kept me interested, and even that game is crap now (yes I tried to get into it. they screwed it up). I don't think it's wrong to hold a high standard for MMO's since I essentially played the best one made. It was way too hardcore and grindy, but it was fun, unlike all these WoW clones are. they take all the worst parts of MMO's, and instead of keeping us subbed by making **** fun, they keep us subbed by locking content every week and giving stupid grinds, just for grinding. A grind can be made fun if done right, but no one is doing it right. My real gripe with 14, and the reason I keep trying to play it but can't, is because I just don't find it fun. I couldn't tell you why I was able to stay with FFXI for so long, or why I truly found it fun to play back in the day. But whatever it had, it doesn't have now, and neither does any of the other MMO I try to play.

And go and listen to any critic you want. I played 14 hardcore. All those critics I seriously doubt played the game on my level. 14 is not a game you can play hardcore and have fun with. My static broke up and people quit left and right. Most of the people playing the game don't play on a hardcore level. This is why so many people play and continue to play. If everyone was hardcore, everyone would have left by now. So if your having fun playing casually, great, the game was made for you. Unfortunately for me, it was half assed made me. They tacked on the binding coil for hardcore players to enjoy, and that's all we have. Theres a place for both of us in this game, but SE doesn't really care about us because we are the minority...hmm that sounds pretty familiar...

since my next post will let me hit 1,000 posts (this one), i'll make it special.

I would like to apologize for anyone I have managed to offend, or **** off (except you lonix.). You guys like the game, I understand why you like it. I know why it's doing well. The game will be around for a long time.I liked it at one point too, or I wouldn't even be here. But Ive moved on from this game. I don't like it, and I probably never will.

It's unfortunate this thread degenerated quickly when it was supposed to celebrate patch 2.51. The gold saucer in general is great and I had some fun with it. For sure it will be expanded. I am just disappointed that the card game spilled into the rest of the game. I don't play which is why I feel frusterated (and the fact the drop rates are pretty garbage). Going 30 primals and getting nothing wouldn't make anyone feel good.

Anyway, zam has treated me pretty well. I got scholar status which was cool. But I think it's time to retire from here as well. "omg no one cares what a waste of a post BOOO, yada yada blah blah blah".

like one of the greatest philosophers of our times Jim Carrey has said: "In case I don't see you, good afternoon, good evening and goodnight".
