A day and an hour late! Sorry about that, lolholidays.

What are you going to do next week? I already capped poetics (!) and bought myself a lovely Ironworks healing robe for my SCH. Being the fashionista I am, this meant immediately buying the Saurian gloves of healing to match my boots and dying them Othard blue to complete the outfit.

So...
1. Beat Ifrit Ex. We got him down to 25% today before things fell apart. Try, try again...
2. PLD to 45! I can do it!
3. Spam some old Coil 1-4 for vanity gear.

I wonder how far i'll get, but.

* Cap Poetics (have 0 right now, so yikes...)
* Start Shiva Hard after reading up on it.
* Do the Ultros fight after reading up on it. Think those will re-unlock Trials for me for more rewards.
* Craft and play the markets a little meanwhile. There's a lot of simple stuff people are paying out of the ears for. Got 900k in the last week alone without even trying.
* Slowly work on Desynthesis some more. Goldsmith is 80.25 and i need to lot/desynth every Hero accessory drop to keep it up.

Shiva Hard is about the same difficulty as Garuda HM, I think. None of the insta death gimmicks of Titan, but not quite as rollover easy as Ifrit either.

-Going to try and cap Poetics tonight if possible, already at the 250ish mark, so should be easily doable with some roulette.
-Gonna give turn 7 a go through the DF, we'll see how that goes.
-Hammer out a few more Alexandrite maps.
-Possibly keep leveling rogue.

As for Shiva HM, the hardest thing about her is the damn color scheme. White on blue, on white, on blue, it just hurts the eyes. Makes some of the safe areas and what not tough to spot at times. Other then that though, she's pretty straight forward.

So far all I've done from my list is spam Turn 4.

My beloved kitty baby had a seizure on Saturday and he's been in the kitty hospital ever since. To top it off, my car wouldn't start yesterday. So my cat is sick and my car is sick and I just don't feel like dealing with paladin or Ifrit Ex all that much right now.

Waiting for a tow truck.

.... did you know pet hospitals are fricking EXPENSIVE?!

*hugs* That I do. So are car 'hospitals', in a bit more detail too as I work in one. I hope everything works out ok.

Had intended to get more done over the holiday, but some lonely kids living in their parent's basements thought it would be cool to DDOS the playstation network from the 24th - 26th, and SONY forgot apparantly how to hire people who knew how to curb this sort of attack. So I played Dragon Age Inquisition offline for 3 days, and actually read through the dialogue.

I got lucky on Friday night and was able to log in while the damage was still being repaired, and logged into ffxiv as fast as possible, because once I'm in there, PSN could blow up outside and it woudn't matter. Then I stay logged in until the damage outside is fixed. So.... SE servers are like a fallout shelter, but PSN is my only entrance to said shelter. Smiley: frown

On Saturday I beat T10 with my static + 2 subs who already beat it that week, so we got one loot chest full of dragoon belt. Only took 4 long hours Smiley: frown. I am safe to say I know that stupid battle now like the back of my hand.

Sunday we tackled T11. I picked up 3 atma too, but Eastern La Noscea continues to elude me. Still not sure if I will use the atma on blm, bard, or save it for machinist.

Anyway, T11. It is pretty easy to hit ~55% on this one and get to add phase. Dodge the conal aoe left and right (as dps), stack for gaseous bomb, and spread either before or after depending on RNG. And deal damage. Adds are pretty easy too, just stick on the sphere add if you are meele, cube add if you are magic, one tank gets sphere, one gets egg, and you rotate them in a big circle around the bug zapper, dodging the line aoe and the heavy circle aoe, while watching for T9 thunder. If you have T9 thunder, move away. Rinse, repeat, kill the sphere and cube at the same time (like the snakes on T1), then move in and kill the egg. When the egg dies (it is a dps check) tanks move to A and the rest of the group moves to metaphorical D (the boss should be facing D but will turn after his upcoming phase change aoe). Do not use blood for blood up until this point or you die to the big phase change AOE the boss uses.

So there, that's where I had got up to every time until this week. Long story short, didn't beat T11 this week but got to 10%. Not too bad. Good practice on tethers.

And here's how to beat tethers. Everything is the same as phase 1 but tethers are added. Two types of tether combos can occur. Type 1 has two random non tanks tethered with a blue strap and two random non tanks tethered with a green strap. Markers B and C go left and right of the boss and the green guys stack on B and the blue guys stack on C. The like tether people need to be close to each other and away from the other tethered folks. The rest of the group (non-tanks) stack on B or C (doesn't matter which side, just everyone needs to be on one side or the other to bait the aoe), and tanks are on A at the front of the boss. The reason for the markers is that it is important to stay at these positions because the people trigger the direction of the conal aoe and you do not want to mess that up like I did by hanging out in the rear when you arent tethered.

The second type has two tethers that join the tanks, and 2 tethers that join two other members of the group. Tanks will pretty much stick together and move together at the front of the boss, and the other tethered folks stick on the boss' behind (like in the first phase) and move together when needed. Good to choose a default direction (i.e left) in case the conal aoe pops split center and you need to move together. Because if you get too far apart you get blasted (learned that the hard way). Stacking while tethered for the T8-like gaseous bomb attack isnt tough, but spreading while tethered for the homing missle-like attack can be problematic. The homing missles can randomly target both tethered people (rare but possible), so when you spread out you have to find that happy medium between not dying to getting double tagged by homing missles and not being far enough apart so you die from natural tether causes. Also you can't run into the other tethered group or you die too. Fun times. I still need some practice but I'll get it. I'm doing crap damage on bard (320-350) and our other bard (who granted is our sub and from another group who wins every week, knows the fight well and outgears me by like 7 ilvls and has ironworks bow, and is also simply better than me) wipes the floor with me by 50 dps per battle. I'm sort of wanting to blm lately. I'm starting to dislike having to check my DOTs while I am learning mechanics. I just want to nuke things for 1800 per hit, instead of relying on 3 DOTs, buffs, and procs to tick the equivalent. I would also really like the derriere wings from T11...

So I'm convinced that for the third time, I really should spend my poetics on a different job. Tank is done for now at 113, got the coat, pants, and shiny sword and shield. I'm good to run instaqueue dungeons with him for a while. Bard is good at 115, with the melded kirimu being better DPS wise than the poetic gear (due to det and crit), I am supposed to be the best I can be atm, although I'm starting to question the diminishing returns of having too low of skill speed. The other bard in our group who subs in has 100 more skill speed than me. Granted he has a bit more damage, but a lot can be said for being able to DoT multiple adds effectively. I know I lose DPS there. I feel like my bard is sluggish, and when the server is laggy forget about it. I miss DoTs on adds sometimes that I press the button 3 and 4 times for. So now I am also contemplating buying poetic stuff for bard because A. I need the HP for later coils, and B. Some skill speed is probably needed. Decisions decisions.

Well, I managed to finished poetics last week despite the holiday. The whole "PSN down" deal was not that great, but I didn't really notice until the end since I was busy with the holidays.

Some things of note:
-Finished video with FC (with a blooper video). It was a blast and I'm hoping to do more like it.
-Finished Glamouring my "trinity" jobs.
-Finished buying soldiery for PLD.

For this week:

Cap poetics after reset
Get a sand or 3 for PLD (Should be all I need now)
BTN30 (have MIN30 and I want to be able to farm up my crystals)
SCH/SMN 45 (should be easy enough)

I made a decision last week to stop focusing on just one class in terms of poetics upgrades. I had always had a declared "main" for every patch, but since I always seem to play a patch behind, it doesn't seem too beneficial (or necessary) to only have one class progressing. I seem to have more fun when I can switch between my trinity jobs with ease. I haven't even unlocked second coil, so I'm not exactly rushing to get to certain caps for final coil.

I managed to cap poetics this last week, which I consider a major accomplishment given the PSN outage and family events.

I defected from Gridania back to Ul'dah! I had reached 2nd Lieutenant in all of them, but I never picked up the hatchling flame minion. That's been taken care of.

Progress on Kobold reputation continues; I'm in the mid 300s and should hit level 4 by next week. Then I need to figure out which one is next; I'm thinking Amalj'aa.

My chocobo is over 50% of the way from Rank 9 to Rank 10. With the 15% award from the Challenge Log, I should be looking at getting one of the special onions in mid-January.

BSM is up to 45. I need to HQ various weapons for the quest; it looks like it might be a little tricky, but I'll manage it.

My mechanic is good and fair and my car repair was considerably less expensive than the vet bill will be. Freak accident - an oil gasket leaked straight onto the spark plugs, flooding the engine and generally causing a mess. A new valve cover gasket, new spark plugs, and one new random radiator hose that had a hole in it later - so basically, the modern version of a car tune up - and it's running fine again. $275 for parts and labor. Could have been a lot worse.

Vet bill is already well over a thousand dollars. Smiley: crymore

Capped Poetics last week, pumping it into WHM/SCH gear so I can do Alex maps more easily for my MNK. I was lacking in DPS capability on WHM, that seems to have pushed over a threshold and I'm not in danger of running out of time now. And then promptly lost two Alex maps because of failure to dodge; I blame lack of sleep.

Unlocked EX primals and Coil last night, guess I'll get started on those this week.

Finished off the Atmas for my Thyrus, although it's still being put aside until it rivals my full Yagrush... which considering I'm actually working on Sphairai might be never.

Working on beast tribe quests for Amal'jaa and Kobolds.

Still plan to pick up another craft to 50, haven't decided which yet, and have just started to get back into spending time fishing.

Keeping my goals nice and simple this week:

1) Cap poetics
2) Run some.of the zodiac dungeons for the KI. Already finished my Excalibur / Aegis combo, working on Longinus now!
3) When not doing 1 or 2, play Dragon age inquisition.

See? Easy :D

Also, Valk, I'm hoping you got the zones muddled up, as Eastern La Noscea doesn't actually have an atma :S

Woot! Grats!

Slowly ironing out Alexandrite for my spear. I'm going to cheap way of hitting 25 25 25 for Accuracy Det and Crit, which will give me the most flexibility.

Problem is, this is promising to be about a long work week in spite of the holiday, so I don't know how far I'm going to get into it.

LMAO you are absolutely right... Completely makes sense now. It's been forever since atma, and I was going down the teleport list and simply didn't check. Appreciate the heads up =D

That was a fast accomplishment. Beat Garuda EX last night, my first EX fight. And Urianger wants me to do Titan EX next? d00d, srsly?

Titan's advice for you.

Seriously though, that fight is a major bottle-neck, be prepared for some frustration, but keep in mind you don't HAVE to defeat him to advance on in the Primals, you can skip him and Ifrit and go on to Leviathan if you wish. Otherwise, be patient, keep at it, and you'll get it down.

Good luck!

Sidenote, we actually find Ifrit harder for our group seeming we got into it late and the damage spikes are much worse when your DPS is pumping out higher on average. Lots of tanks getting quick stacks of the debuff. x.x
