So um...

I went to do what i normally would do and put some crysta on my account so i could pay for the following week.

And it just lists VISA, MasterCard, JCB, American Express, Carte Bleue (whatever the heck that is), VISA Electron (whatever the heck that is) and VISA Delta (whatever the heck that is).

I no longer have any debitcard options or iDeal (which was amazing...)

Also i... *rolls eyes* dont have the option to post on the official forums anymore, lol... so erm...

What's going on, how can i still pay for the game without applying for a creditcard (pro-tip, my country barely ever ever uses them for anything)

They warned us for a couple of months now the Ultimate Pay option will be gone by october - this includes Paypal as it was linked to it.

Grrrr... How could they remove an option without at the very least having an alternative ready? :/

Well, i guess that explains why the towns have been so empty lately.

It wasn't so much that SE removed the option, it's that UltimatePay decided to stop selling and honoring Ultimate Game Cards. SE has stated they are looking into an new alternative payment method.

Greetings,

We understand the frustration that the removal of the PlaySpan, and by extension PayPal, billing option is having on customers that relied on it for paying for subscription fees or for the optional services like retainers.

We are currently working on implementing a PayPal payment option and we hope to have this up and running soon. In the meantime, if you do encounter errors when attempting to register your credit card, please contact our Support Center for assistance.

You can buy XIV specific game time cards off Amazon, or from any Gamestop with cash/debit.

Tried those Cat, and i appreciate the help, but i need a creditcard for Amazon as well, Gamestop is no diffirent but does technically accept Paypal too (which i guess i'll have to give in and setup then i suppose...), but Gamestop charges €19,99 as "handling costs" on a digital item code... I'd be paying €49,99 for not even a full 2 months of game-time. That's more than double the amount i used to pay.

There arent anymore true debit-card options for me. Technically Paypal is the closest thing, but that too requires hoops and rediculous extra costs.

I wish SE for once would just make it easy to give them money. It's like the whole FFXI 3D-secure card debacle all over again. :/
They had it all in place with iDeal, i'd click it, say yes, and they'd take the amount out of my bank account... All these "options"... they're just rediculous ._.;

Are you serious? That's insane.

Your best bet might be a pre-paid credit card. Definitely less convenient than your previous setup, but still an option if you don't have a credit card you can use for this. Paypal also offers a credit card if you can jump their hoops.

Banks and the banking industry in Japan is notorious for being incredibly customer un-friendly. ATMs are only open during business hours, for example.

Square Enix is a global company, you think they'd be better at this by now.

Wow, whats the point in it being automated then? Is there some guy sitting in the box with a tiny computer typing in people's card number and handing out money through the little slot? Then at 5 he punches out and goes home??

I can't begin to tell you how right this post is. I got my pre-paid CC from Net spend maybe 15-20 years ago. It works as a credit or debit card, and does so for everything. You should really look into this option IMO.

Oh for f*cks sake...

Almost a week later, lots of figuring out what to do, 2 days for Paypal, 2 days for the FFXIV 60-day code to arive.

And you guys wont believe just how fricking wonderful my day is today...

Since you guys wont believe it i made a link just for you guys...

BEST DAY EVER...

See that? I removed the code obviously and inputted X's after the error came up, but...

Take a moment to bask in the majestity of the massive f*ckups of SE dropping nearly all payment options for my country.

It's a week later, I'm out €60, have nothing to show for it except for a useless code i cant input or exchange or return. And i cant wait to see what will happen to the email i send them.
