In spite its shortcomings FFXIV keeps getting cited among the reasons why Square Enix is doing better. Here's an interesting snippet:

"IGN" wrote:
In the three month period ending June 20, the company pulled in ¥37.8 billion in revenue, a 57 percent increase on the ¥24.1 billion earned in the same period 12 months prior. This difference translated over into profit too, with the company making ¥3.4 billion where it lost ¥493 million previously.

It's a nice turn-around in fortunes for a company that, this time last year, was having their CEO resign due to poor financial performances.

With Chinese version still not released, do you think SE will be able to raise its expectations again before the year closes out or do you think the criticism over changes to the game and the pricing of their mobile market begin to weigh on their bottom line?

Minor, easily fixable design choices that can be reversed in the next update will hardly weigh on their bottom line. They are experimenting and I think they have enough leverage to do so. Chinese release will be the wild card, they could easily double their sub numbers or just see a modest increase. Depending on what they expect out of China, it may end up hurting the bottom line too. SE has been conservative so far about predicting sub numbers though, so the Chinese version would probably have to perform quite badly in that case.

Well, at $200 per ticket, what did you expect? SE is rolling in cash! The moogles are already syphoning it off too an offshore account to fund the moogle mafia and their upcomming plans of world domination.

Several of them got themselves banned after flying off the handle and trying to circumvent temporary mutes.

I wonder how that crow tastes, though.

What? You mean FFXIV isn't a ghost town and on the verge of going F2P as a last gasp before failing forever?
