Out of the jobs you play, which do you ENJOY the most?Follow

#1 Jul 30 2014 at 1:39 PM Rating: Excellent
Just what it says on the tin. Leave out effectiveness, leave out e-peen and parsing and all that.

Which job is most fun?

Right now, BLM for me. I have an unhealthy obsession with the graphical effect for Flare, and its just so satisfying to see big chunks of HP disappearing with that "fzzzsheoWHOOSH-FOOOOOM!" sound. Smiley: grin

Paladin is my main job but I might go with white mage for the most fun. In cleric's stance white mage nukes decently hard and AoE damage is phenomenal for a healing job. Finding the perfect balance between maximizing damage and keeping the party alive feels dynamic and keeps the fight interesting.

On the healing side I always enjoyed trying to maximize regenerative healing rather than burst healing when I can, and this is a great strength of the job too.

I enjoy BRD the most, it CAN be mindless if you don't sing or try to stay at the top of the DPS charts. I like it best though because I'm always on the move and back far enough I get to see what everyone else is doing. It makes it easier to learn what I should do on other jobs as well. I'm going to be starting BLM soon, and I have a feeling I won't like it. I LOVED MNK in 1.0, but I can't really get into the 2.0 style. I'm hoping that NIN will be the up close DPS job for me.

My main is PLD as well and although I like the job, SCH has to be the one i like to ***** around with.

What makes SCH really great to me is the fairy pet. Unlike WHM where I would need to time cleric swaps, I can easily go into clerics stance while the fairy tosses out some heals. It's pretty easy to keep DoTs up full time and heal if your comfortable with the fight you're doing. In low level dungeons (not all of them) i can actually full time clerics stance and DPS the entire time without needing to help my fairy.

SCH is also the class i try to push myself to my limits with. Part of the fun here is that I get that feeling of accomplishing something I never have before, such as solo healing titan HM (back when doing that wasn't easy). My best run was the time there was only me, the tank, and a DPS still on top fighting titan and he had 20% left. I had no choice but to swap to cleric stance to break the DPS out of a gaol while still keep us alive (and not running out of MP). It took us some time to finish him off, but we did it. The feeling of getting us through that was great. As a tank you can't really carry the team if something goes wrong, but as a healer you have a lot of versatility and can do some pretty amazing things.

BRD. The freedom to move and attack is huge in a game like this.

My pride and joy is PLD. It's my main. But I'm having a lot of fun as BLM. The rthym of it is awesome and I feel a real sense of strategy with each fight.

I have the most fun with blm, because chunks of hp loss make me smile.

In the BLM crowd as well. I like being mobile. I also like being in absolutely control of my MP levels at any given time. That was something that gets annoying on WHM, and even SCH to some extent. BLM has enough MP restoration tricks that unless you're not paying attention, you never quite run out - and that's why I keep emergency hi-elixers on macro. (Also helps for times I'm low on HP.)

It used to be BLM for me, but I'm leaning more towards SMN now.

I'm a WHM and PLD. Both are fun but white mage is more pleasant for doing random stuff without knowing every detail of a dungeon or boss fight. With PLD it's important to gain a lot of experience with everything and that's hard to do given the ever changing content. The expectation of many players to speed run every dungeon is particularly difficult to deal with. It's kind of hard to do when I haven't done each dungeon twenty times and nailed down the exact procedure for speed running them.

So for me PLD is trickier but both jobs are equally enjoyable. It's nice to have versatility and variety in gameplay.

My main was SCH, love Eos! But I decided to lvl PLD awhile ago due to the super high demand for tanks, and I have been stuck on PLD ever since. I love being the main focus of a big boss fight, just me and the boss goin' toe to toe, man to man, head to head......well, i mean my party helps me out too but that part isn't important. :P

Bard all day. Stacking all the buffs + food + potion and then ripping off a Barrage is satisfying every time.

Warrior for instant Roulettes. Overpower is super fun.

PLD and SCH for me, I love the crazy amounts of healing that SCH can do. SCH also has the versatility to be able to switch fairy types. Before the last patch i used Selene in mythflox to great affect; the increased spell speed and increased skill for tanks and melee really sped things up. The ability to switch on cleric's stance on and off also made for some insanely fast runs. First two bosses, before the nerf, went down in 12-13 minutes. That was amazing, then the patch came and blah. Mythflox is still decent for all three bosses if you have a competent group as the runs can still go really fast.

PLD is now my second to 50 and let me tell you; nothing is quite as satisfying as donning that i90 armor in between fights. Was amazing as I farmed up all the myth tome armor and the soldiery trinkets; slapped them on and went into fight Miser's MIstress. The Healer in my group was like "WTF how'd you get all that stuff already?" I replied that i had farmed it all up on my i100 SCH prior to leveling it. I love PLD's hectic life when dealing with groups of mobs. Warrior is better suited to grabbing hate with groups than PLD is. It gets interesting when youre with a decent BLM and BRD and youre trying to peal hate off them to save their butts. If they stick to the designated order of mobs that you label then I generally have an easy time of tanking. It's when dealing with BRDs or BLMs that go off on the wrong target.... yea i just dont chase the mobs, that's their bad. I love the armor on PLD i90 set. Love the look of it and wheni can get enough gil [wtf @ 3-4 million gil to augment i50 gear...] im going to change the color of the set. Anyways there's my two favorite jobs atm :)

I want to say Paladin since i love how it looks and feels, but i dont want to take it into dungeons ever :/ Stress, people complaining, having to do speedruns that don't really work with just flash and scorn, ugh.

I guess i feel best on Black Mage. No stress, nice chunks of HP gone every hit, little responsibility, and still get to enjoy most of the fights.

But man, do i wish i could feel that way on Paladin... If only people could be less of a jerk sometimes.

Definitely MNK for me. Seems to be one of the more active jobs in terms of having to think a bit with what you're about to do. I do enjoy BRD sometimes when I just want to check out and want to make some easy high dps happen. Overall though, Animus is on my MNK and it's the job I'm gonna keep rolling with!

I guess it depends on the type of person you are. I don't have issues like this. Maybe my playstyle is acceptable with most people, but when people do try to tell me what to do I stand my ground. Fortunately it's usually the DPS who will complain and well, they have to listen because I'm sure they would rather sit through it than wait in DF again. :P

On the topic of being able to do speed runs as a PLD... I do it. It's easy enough. You MIGHT have an issue if your ilvl different is too great between you and the AoE DPS. In that event, I would just do things the normal way. Because eff 'em. You the tank. You the boss. :)

I wouldn't be too afraid anyway. It's hard to do speed runs with the new dungeons. They are actually pretty speed run proof.

^^^^ this, you run the show not the DPS. In the end it's the difference of farming myth or not farming myth and soldiery. Yes ilevels do play a significant role in how effective you are at doing speed runs. It isn't just the DPS ilvl that counts; consider you healer's ilevels as well. If their ilevels are not up to snuff don't do speed pulls because their healing crits won't be up to snuff for the amount of damage you'll be taking as tank.

Job of the week right now is BLM for me...just got it to 50...got to iLvl 80 fast with gear I already had and the good fortune to grab a Scylla Robe of Casting (look is worth it anyways..much less the stats). Love the big booms and ability to stay mobile.

My main though is SCH...and that was about the 5th job I got to 50...but it's just stuck with me. Love the healing style, love how you have to know what the mobs are capable of, the timings, the micro-managing of Eos in a major boss fight, the 4 man dungeons where I'm pulling hate off the tank with my AoE DoT's while Selene covers the healing for the first part of the fight.

One of my favorite moments was running a copperbell (HM) on the 2nd boss, the one with the bombs you have to place. I told the tank to bait AoE's away from the switch...DPS focus adds down, I've got the bombs. Easy clear, and he commented that he's never seen a healer that was able to keep a party up and deal with the bombs at the same time. Same in Stone Vigil on cannons, love being able to tell the DPS just kill the boss...I've got that part.

My main has been WHM, I have been since FFXI too...
Whm feels lacking and boring in this game.. Pretty much spam cure and ensuna with the occasional medica..

Started playing BRD and do love that job.. Only issue is there are too many bards already..

Another problem is once a whm it is a career job and you rarely get to play anything else unless you stink at it... LOL.

To be honest, Dragoon.

There is something about the simplicity of the motion. Multiple gap closets, clear lines of damage rotations and emphasis on getting a feel for each individual fight so you can stay on the target when you need to.

Knowing that the measurement of a Dragoon's skill and comfort of a fight is them knowing their jump timings and distances well enough to use them throughout the fight without fear, is an assurance when I know I have them down. And the feeling of joy I get when I get called 'a beast' on Dragoon.

SMN, hands down. I used to be BLM only, but then I really started focusing on improving my SMN, and the little tricks it has. There is still room for improvement, such as removing the mob cap from Bane, or increasing Pet stat contribution, but it's a super fun job and you are rarely bored.

As people have said, the tank is the leader of a dungeon run. They decide how fast to pull. That being said, I will not pull faster or larger then my ilvl allows. I know my limits. I have gotten really comfortable with the demand put on tanks, so much so that other jobs seem slow and boring to me. The pressure and demand put on us as tanks are the dues we pay in exchange for rapid invites when Qing in DF. All of my 50s have full i90 gear thank to my PLDs rapid invites.

I think the two you hit on why it takes a different kind of person to be a tank, also different kind of person to be a healer.. They enjoy the game different..
