Hey, guys!

New player here for XIV :) I played FFXI from NA Ps2 release - level cap raise to 80. A few months ago I returned to XI but it just didn't have the same feeling since most of my friends quit that game a while ago. SO! That's why now I want to start a new adventure with XIV, one where I can meet new people and form those same bonds. From what I can tell there are still linkshells in XIV so I was wondering if there were any social linkshells on the Cactuar server willing to let a new adventure in? I was thinking of posting this on the server specific forums, but thought that I might have a better chance here. Thanks in advance, guys :)

linkshells are the secondary form of community in ffxiv. Free companies are the Primary form of community. you just have to find which fits you

To start, speak to people you come across, /wave and if they are hanging out in your area then ask them if you can befriend them.

Suggestions I could give are these.

1). Main Story Quest and Your Class/Job quest will be your main source for leveling to 50. Use side quest and levequest to help get over the "humps" to the level requirement.

2) Use your Hunter's Log, Once you get your chocobo check the hunter's log and start completing it. It's 100% viable for leveling and you get access to many fates.

3) If you come close to getting attuned to a stone, do it. It will ALL WAYS come in handy to have them.

4) Get a retainer when you can, use them to store all your unwanted items for crafting or selling later.

5) Don't be quick to blame the healer.. it's not easy.

Here is a link of a small directory of Free Companies on Cactuar Server. I will start with that, see which FCs are new players friendly.

Here is the lodestone list of FCs in Cactuar that are register as casual that you can check. I would go with the highest member list since it probably is the more open and willing to help new players.
