This just in:

Thavnairian Onion = 2 million gil Smiley: lol

Glazenuts spike in price as gardeners stop glazenut harvests to produce Thavnairian Onion / Krakka Root / Curiel Root / Sylkis Bud / Mimett Gourd / Tantalplant / and Pahsana Fruit. Smiley: dubious

Sigh... Smiley: glare magicked stable broom had better be purchasable from the housing merchant npc. But those fruits... Doesn't SE know by now that anything that you limit to garden production will be in the absolute shortest supply, resulting in extremely high prices? Maybe their intention is to make chocobo raising a highly expensive process... Imagine if gardening was the only way you could acquire geysahl greens....

Thanalan III will remain in demand, probably about the same demand as now. Gardeners are already needing it for glazenut crops, so as they switch over to new crops, the demand will remain the same. I gather mine myself, in Western Thanalan, near Silver Bazaar, from 5am - 8am Eorzea time. Otherwise it is about 30k on the Lamia auction house.

Unless the developers think the current prices for those are fine, they may add more ways to obtain those items so the prices aren't so...exorbitant. Chocobo raising seems like it would be a casual activity which wouldn't make sense if those items cost 2 million gil. Then again, you need them only to increase the rank past 10 so perhaps that doesn't seem too bad.

It's only really the top tier gardening items that attract the high prices, and this is typically due to the yield being only one per plant. Once you're out of that tier the prices are generally very reasonable (even one tier down on the seeds that lead in). I'd honestly be pretty shocked if these plants only have a yield of 1. Probably unfounded panic about the prices being high, but obviously there's going to be a high buy in straight away until the market gets settled.

At the very least this might give gardeners something else to make money out of rather than the top tier items. That would be a good thing, beyond the top tier there's not much interesting to grow, and at least on my server Glazenuts and etc don't sell all that fast and the market is very competitive.

There will be the usual HUGE spike in demand for the boco stuff which will encourage people to start gardening and then prices will settle down. It's exactly what's happened with Glazenuts. Prices on the nuts have more than halved already and are dropping daily.

How expensive things are going to be is going to depend on how many times you have to crossbreed to get the final item and whether they limit how many of the feeds etc you get from one plant.

Glazenuts are a pain because you only get one at a time. Hopefully they won't make that mistake this time.

My plan is to hold off on raising a chocobo for a month. It's like any new toy, early adopters pay the most.
