So I played for about a month at 2.0 release, then went back to XI for an extended period. I just re-subbed a week ago. Since returning I've:

1. Dinged 50 BLM (Had a lvl 36 BLM from release)
2. Finished the main story up through Praetorium (sp?)
3. Finished the BLM quests
4. Started running around doing cutscenes for opening Crystal Tower.

My question is, what should I be doing now, progression-wise? I have a helpful linkshell of old FFXI friends who will lend a hand, but I'm trying to get a broad set of opinions for where I should be spending my time- particularly the hours I am online when my ls mates are at work. My ultimate goal is to catch up to them and start doing endgame content like coil. I obviously need to bridge my gear, but I'd prefer to do this as economically (time-wise) as possible.

Also, what are the must-haves for cross-class abilities for a BLM?

As always, thanks in advance- you guys are the best.

Probably slowly work towards getting some myths from the earlier Lv.50 dungeons and Story mode dungeons, and then once you have purchased some i90 gear with your myths (since the droprate on i70 is so rediculously low and random, and i80 is just random) then you should see if you can get through the Hard Mode primals for your Relic weapon. And following that 900 more myths for the +1 version.

It's a nice long questline, and the reward wil make you able to do just about any content you desire afterwards, from coil to well... ok, i guess there's just coil... Maaaaaaaaaaaaybe once you reach i95 (or so apparently is the consensus going by the party finder) you could start doing the Extreme mode Primals. But yeah, one weapon makes that diffirence. It's a very nice weapon to have.

But honestly, in my personal opinion, forget about all of that. Purchase a fishing rod and enjoy strolling through the world in search of lakes, streams, ponds, buckets and other sources of water you can throw a line in. It's much more satisfying and relaxing.

Like what was said in other recent threads, I'd recommend buying an HQ i70 weapon, if nothing else. Then spam Crystal Tower. Not only is it relatively friendly towards fresh 50s, but it drops i80 equipment for head, body, hands, waist, legs, and feet after every major boss fight. Meanwhile, you could use the myth to buy i90 accessories and, while not everyone would agree with me, I'd recommend buying an i100 ring with your first weekly batch of soldiery.

This should raise your item level pretty quickly, allowing you to progress in early endgame dungeons and your relic quests. Once you start clearing out those early hurdles, you'll be able to open up more Daily Roulette options and acquire even more advanced gear.

Ragin Strikes and Quelling Strikes from archer are essential.

Gonna want Physick and Virus at the least.

Eye for an Eye is bonus.

I also run with http://xivdb.com/?skill/175/Eye-for-an-Eye the cooldown is fairly long so in speedruns I like to toss it on the tank when the healers is still cooling down.

I don't use http://xivdb.com/?skill/169/Virus as much as I used to now that they introduced immunity, It's still on my bar for now.

The 2 times I am guaranteed to pop Virus in all circumstances:

1. Post heart phase in Titan just after his heart busts and he lands from his jump, I pop virus to mitigate that first table flip.

2. On the first dreadnaught drop in T4 to help the tank when the spiders get fed.

I only do if there isn't a SMN or SCH in the party. I get yelled at otherwise since they wanted to do it.

But no SMN/SCH yeah I will still pop it. I guess on 4 man content I do use it more.
