Did i join the game to lateFollow

#1 Jun 28 2014 at 9:15 PM Rating: Decent
everyone has these absurdly high item levels and I just got to 50 a day ago. I honestly don't even see the point in attempting to try endgame because most people refuse to work with new players. I went into ifrit hard mode and it was plain annoying because my health is like 2800 meaning I couldn't miss a single step while everyone else could just take the hits like they were nothing. hell even the unavoidable one wrecked me. should I just wait until the next expansion? I like the game but since no one really wants to deal with new players I might as well quit. No I don't want a carry I don't want to be in a group where everyone can say ***** the rules and stand in the red or blue area of death

You might be pushing the content too quickly. Farm the high-level and expert roulettes for a while and gather some myth gear and dungeon drops to beef yourself up.

You definitely didn't join too late and catching up is entirely reasonable as long as you don't try to rush it.

Oh wow, yeah you definitely need to be farming those dungeons.

High-level roulette requires you to complete Wanderer's Palace, Amdapor Keep, Pharos Sirius, Haukke Manor (Hard), and Copperbell Mines (Hard) at least once each.

At your ilvl, you may want to stick to WP and AK for a little while to gather some ilvl 55 and 60 gear as well as mythology tomestones for i90 gear from the Mor Dhona vendor.

Hit the low-level and main scenario roulettes once a day too for extra myth stones (I know you won't be able to Shadow Flare the world.. but the stones are worth it, I promise).

Actually everyone goes through a gear change at 50. You are just hitting that first step now where you do need to start getting better armor if you want to continue. There are new dungeon armors now for i60 and i70, that once you start running those few (as mentioned already), you will start getting better gear for yourself.

This again, is going to change when you start getting better gear. Even some or all of the Grand Company items should be i55 and get you a lot more health. A brand new 50 has no place really going into primals right away, unless maybe as dps. Even then. You Must Learn The Dance. Each boss has a set pattern of tactics to avoid and once you know the pattern, you can easily do Ifrit without getting hit once (expect maybe an unlucky eruption).

No. If you wait. You will just be farther behind. The expansion will likely add more story line, and if you dont have the base story line done, then there won't be much (if anything) for you do in the expansion, with the exception of a few side quests at best.

What class are you? If you are a tank, then it's going to be hard but you'll need to get geared up to progress. If you are a healer, it could just take better mana management, and learning to avoid aoe's. If you are a DPS, try to get a better weapon, and raise some of your stats so you have more damage and health to help you out a little bit.

Really there is not one 'best' way to gear once you hit 50, there are a few more options in the game now then there were at release so you just need to figure out an appropriate path, and how you want to set out on it.

You should be fine doing Ifrit at your ilvl, but you may want to take a friend with you to guide you.

Crystal Tower is also an option for you when you reach ilvl50, which can net you some pretty nice ilvl80 gear.

To unlock high level roulette you need to unlock Wanderer's Palace, Amdapor Keep, Pharos Sirius, Copperbell HM, and Haukke Manor - and also do them all at least once, so my advice is to stick to Wanderer's Palace and Amdapor Keep (just queue up for both for faster queue times... you won't be able to enter or do Haukke Manor, Pharos, or Copperbell Mines hard modes.. they are pretty tough.) They are easy enough at your ilvl and will net you myth tomes for ilvl90 gear. You can also do your Main Scenario roulette and Low Level roulette to gain additional myth tomes.

I honestly feel the hurdle is getting to ilvl57. When you get to ilvl55, you can do the expert dungeons (what I call third tier) which net you a nice amount of tomes (50 myth 45 soldier [soldier, btw, give you ilvl100 gear]). These dungeons are actually easier than some of the hard level ones (brayflox hardmode coughcough). ilvl57 is important because that is when you can do Titan HM, and you need to complete that in order to get your relic weapon. (Which you should go for as soon as you can.)

Just make sure your current gear is updated. Take the advice you're getting and get it from the GC and also buy some things off the market if you can afford it / is cheap.

Don't give up - once you get ilvl55 it starts snowballing pretty quickly.

I'm still running into low iLvl players that out play their heavily geared counterparts. So too late? No. But you just need to make sure you know the way the dungeons and the boss mechanics work. As previously mentioned, run those dungeons until you unlock the roulettes and you should bump up your gear while doing it. It will take a few weeks until you can max out iLvl 100 stuff. No big deal.

Find a crafter. Crafters make and regularly sell i70 gear. Quick way to push gear level up without a grind.

Gonna agree with the above.

If you have some gil, buy yourself the HQ i70 weapon for your job at the very least. It'll help immensely with everything else you need to do. If you have more gil, buy one or two pieces of the i70 armor to go with it. I also suggest using food. As a low ilvl 50, food, especially good VIT boosting food, can make a world of difference in your surviving.

If I were in your shoes, my next step after those things would be Crystal Tower. Each run takes 45mins to an hour, gets you 150 Myth tomes (you can trade these in amounts of 375, 495, and 825 to an NPC in Mor Dhona for ilvl 90 gear), and each run also drops random i80 armor pieces, some of which are very good gear.

Once you have a few pieces of Myth gear and the rest CT or i70 (and 4000+HP) then you should get your relic quest done and learn the primals. You can, in fact, beat them with a lot less than that (most of us did it around the i60-65 range back at the beginning), but I'm trying to save you some grief. I've learned lately via Trials roulette that people have utterly zero patience for anyone not overgearing the fights by at least a bit. If you don't, you might not get the chance to learn because they'll boot you out for being "undergeared scrub" the first time you die. It's them being stupid, but you pay the price. Smiley: glare

With relic weapon in hand, you can use 900 Myth tomes to upgrade it to the +1 form, and you'll be ready for pretty much anything you want to do in the game.

Well I don't know any crafters so I mostly just do fates for company seals. however after that i have no intention of doing the atma since I can generally avoid dying in instances

I second this. It's gil well spent when you're just arriving at 50. And I'd also recommend the Crystal Tower to farm your "left hand side" gear as your character sheet displays it. You can collect a great deal of i80 pieces with ease while collecting Myth for your "right hand side" i90 accessories at the same time. It may take a few trips, but you'll be ready for the relic challenges and early endgame dungeons faster than slugging it out almost any other way.

I mean... there are a lot of good reasons not to do the atma upgrade but.... I'm not sure this one makes any sense

You gotta find some cool people to play with.

One suggestion is to join some of the Party Finder content where it says, "Learning Party, please have TS." or some other voice chat perhaps.

Seems like the coolest group(s) of players I have found are just hanging out, casually learning new Coil content, and jumping on voice chat with them can easily result in new Friends List, Linkshell or even FC invites.

The best way to look at it is in stages. You don't have to get complete sets of gear at every stage but a few here and there will make getting to the higher ilevels easier.

Usually at 50 the worst pieces are your accessories. Level 49 accessories aren't that expensive from the Market Boards. Also, check out the achievements guy if you haven't already, he may have an i55 ring waiting for you if you completed all your Hunting Log. Each of the Grand Companies has an i55 weapon too if your weapon is a bit low.

I would unlock Wanderer's Palace and Amdapor Keep and do those a little bit to get up to the point where you can unlock the Expert Dungeons. You'll get some mythology tomes and you can buy myth gear with them in Revenant's Toll.

Which job are you focusing on?
