Do you know your neighbors?Follow

A few months ago my FC bought a small house in what was at the time a mostly empty ward. Just a day or two later another FC bought the house next door. Our two FCs got to know each other and we now hang out a bunch and occasionally do events together and stuff. I almost never see anyone from any of the other houses around but I know our next door neighbors pretty well.

Does anyone else have any sort of relationship with their neighbors, or is the residence a lonely place for you?

Actually my situation is very similar to yours! We moved into Mist, into a small house next door to another small. 2 members of their FC came and greeted us with house warming gifts, and we started chatting back and forth. A few months down the line, we created a LS for the members of both FC to join and chat, and thus LoCoBomb was born! We run occasional events and stuff, and talk daily, built our own small community :-)

Made a huge campfire place in our garden, and i tend to shout occasionally for people to come on over, meet the neighbors and roast imaginairy marshmellows. There's quite a few groups we got to meet, from a girl who's entire FC pretty much stopped showing up after they bought a large mansion which she now takes care off by herself to a fairly active roleplaying group even. Even a group of what can only be described as stoners, and there's a FC that named their FC house "the cat brothel" and they run a huge bar in there for everyone to visit and drink at.

Our little piece of Mist is pretty interesting and fun. Lots of nice and interesting people.

We have neighbors that I wish I didn't know. Two FCs near our house seem to have a grudge. Several days in a row, I would see players from the two FCs bashing each other in /say at the MB right next to our house.

We've got a small beachfront house on Mist. The three small houses on the block all use the same action house and summoning bell. We don't know the guys in the middle too well, but the folks closest to the auction board happen to be made up of much of my old coil static I had pre Swarm (before we built our FC). Wasn't intentional, but cool nonetheless. So I make it a point to idle outside of their house walls next to the summoning bell all day long, sometimes sitting or in interesting poses. A few of them who didn't know me before from coil have started referring to me as their hobo. Good times.

I keep forgetting about the FC house myself; ever since I got my craft levels far enough I don't need the material vendor anymore (because they sell nothing relevant to me), I haven't been there in awhile. I should drop by and see what the house looks like now lol.

I don't suppose you live in the Mist, Ward 1 on Siren do you? I did try and persuade my guys we didn't need a cannon, let alone one which pointed to the nextdoor neighbours lol..

They should film a reality TV show for this. 'FFXIV Neighbours Gone Bad'!

I don't have much in the way of interaction with our Mist mansion but you guys got me thinking, maybe we should interact more. :)

Our relationship with our neighbors is both unspoken and... special. (Read: We have cannons pointed at each other.)

Just being able to have the vendors for buybacks and repairs, the summoning bell, mog mail, and auction board all within a few steps is reason enough to be there. Plus we have an aetheryte crystal so we can warp right to the front of the house. Saves me a ton of running.

True, true.

Perhaps when all of my crafts are 50 (I joined the Flames), I'll go to Mist more often. But to run between Mist and Ul'dah every day isn't going to work very well, lol. I do miss the house, it looked very cool the last time I was in there, that was a long time ago.

The FC house aetheryte costs a fraction of the usual teleport fee. Ul'dah to Mist is only like 100g (and return is free.)

That is so funny. I did that same thing. Haha makes me wonder if you are the FC I am pointing my cannon at.

For me it is all just fun and games. I have a small FC house, they have a medium. I point it at them as a sign of my coveting :P

We were so excited when we finally saved enough gil for our small plot. We grabbed the small house at lot 13, Ward 4 on Siren, right across the street from the Market Board. I was sitting in Limsa crafting up food like mad to get the 450k for the house permit when I get a call over the FC to get to the plot ASAP.

Our neighbors pooled some gil and donated the last 250k we needed, and we got the house 2 days earlier than planned. We've chatted and hung out with them ever since, and I put their FC leader on my friends list. Damned nice people. Smiley: nod

It costs me 100 gil to port to the aetheryte at the house from anywhere, and I have Uldah set as my main city (I am also Flames). It is set as favorite destination, so from the house I can either warp to home city (free every fifteen minutes i think) or pay ~100 gil to port to there from the house. Its not bad really.

They must have changed that and I didn't notice, because Uldah->Mist was always 211 (same price as Limsa, as that's set as my Favored) not 100. I'll have to check it again next time I'm on. I wonder when they did that...

They changed that in the patch a couple of weeks ago. The house aetheryte now costs a quarter the normal price, down from half.

We have a pair of Bertha's pointed at our neighbors.

We were the first FC on our block in Ul'dah Ward 5 and for a long time we didn't have any neighbors, recently we got a few in the small houses adjacent to our middle house and we tried to make contact but they're very antisocial and didn't even open their house or wave back when we try to make any sort of contact.

We have dancing parties and Dragoon jump fests on their lawn every so often.

I think SE needs to encourage this 'getting to know your neighbors' business with some sort of quest line or reward. It might even be good to have FCs be able to collaborate.
