I'm thinking about putting this in the suggestion box for the devs, but I thought I'd get some feedback here first. I've not seen it brought up before but maybe they've already discussed it. I've never posted over there.

So to make Sprint a bit more useful and maybe a bit more fair here's my suggestions:

Why not have it tick away an increasing amount of TP the longer you hold down the Sprint button rather than blow the whole meter at once? This would make it so that it could actually be a situational tool and something a DPS or Tank could actually use.

On the fairness note playing primarily as a caster I've always felt kinda dirty that I get it basically for free so if this method was adopted for metering and you were playing as a DoM, using Sprint would drain your MP bar at an appropriate rate similar to that of draining off TP.

Well that was my big epiphany this morning. What does everyone think?

I don't mind that sort idea, honestly. It does make more sense to me the way you lay it out. For me, as a Dragoon. I just pop sprint and pop Invigorate to really mitigate it's effects.

But I think what they're concerned with, if I am to guess at their mentality, is for it to be abused in combat. But, I don't see why a mechanic that effectively mages can use without consequence, would be that difficult for melee to use.

Still, we also have Rogue/Ninja to consider now too. If we make Sprint too easy it may take away from their mechanics.

I think it's a bit easier to regain tp then it is mp. And as a drg and pld I find it easier to dodge and avoid being hit when I'm up on the mob.

Also I like that fact that mp affects magical things and tp affects physical things like Sprint.

And on a selfish note if I'm kiting or sack pulling or speed running on pld I love being able to pop sprint and use mp to flash everything and by the time Sprint wears off I'm back to full tp

And would hate if my whm popped Sprint to dodge plums but now out of mp for stomps

Only concern I see with this is that mnk and drg SHOULD out dps blm and brd as it stands. So you throw in something to dodge and get back to the mob with more haste, then the dps race will quickly tilt towards the melee. I already abuse the crap out of shoulder tackle, so throw sprint on that, I'd probably keep up my Greased Lightning III all the time which would be horribly broken.

You could argue that the dwindling TP might fix it, but Invigorate usually helps anytime TP gets remotely low.

The way it currently works, you have restored TP by the time you hit your destination if you are traveling a long distance.

I think this would do better as a separate ability for the Rogue/NIN class, good old Flee. Just make it cross class equipable for all DoW classes. Us DoMs are fine with Sprint alone.

Because DPS utilize TP (and needs every point of TP) so it would be hard to let Sprint be used by DPS while they absolutely MUST have a GCD system even though most MMOs worth their salt doesn't even use it.

FFXIV isn't worth salt? I would totally trade salt for FFXIV. Or are you just bashing the game indirectly on purpose.

Most MMOs moved away from GCD systems a long time ago, very few that's worth playing actually utilizes this system, which is why they would have to work it into the GCD in order to make it worth using for DoW balance wise, since that's what Yoshi is all about. Calm your trousers.

Don't feel bad about it. Casters have to stand still through out the casting time of a spell (or pretty close to it) or have it interrupted. Non-casters don't have to worry about that, so they are more mobile than casters even without being able to abuse sprint.

More than that, should the target move more than 5 degrees to the side mid-cast, it'll be interrupted because of Line of Sight being broken

(I exaggerate, but not by much)

Don't worry about Hio. Since Preludes got banned the he and Duo stepped up their negativity level to compensate.

At the very least they're not blately skirting the rules to mock the admins. I can deal with dissenting opinions, I just don't waste my time when someone has made their stance clear that they detest the game a community is based around.

It's like an Atheist attending Church.

At least an Atheist would have the sense to respect everyone while they were worshiping there. Hio and Preludes are well beyond that. They're taking a **** on the altar in front of everyone, pointing to it, and yelling, "Where is your god now?"

No need to capitalize atheist. Interesting comparison though. At times I've felt that the mmo community as a whole and various groups within it can give off creepy cult vibes.Smiley: tongue
