50 ALC, 50 CRP, get caught up on fray tail!

A big pile of "meh."

XIV has finally burned out its appeal as of this last week. Got all my Levi weapons I want, maxxed all the jobs I want, and don't care about the new gear or Coil at all. Getting a new piece of Evenstar doesn't even compare to getting a piece of "Summoner's _____."

Back in the XI days I'd get like this and just go spend a week solo hunting some obscure NM in some Altanaforsaken hellhole with my Linkshell taken off, but that's not an option. Might be time to finally look into crafting. Or level my Fisherman somewhere in quiet seclusion.

It took a long time, but when you finally run out of things you want to do in Eorzea its like smashing headlong into a brick wall, isn't it? Smiley: disappointed

My goals keep changing unfortunately. I just got Scholar to 30 and that seems like nearly as much fun as my Paladin. So I guess I'll level up to WHM and BLM just so I can get Stoneskin for Scholar and Paladin and Swiftcast for Scholar. After that I think I'll get back to leveling up Paladin although I'm going slower on that because tanking new dungeons can be a bit harrowing as you never know how your DF friends will react.

In-laws are coming over tomorrow.

But, I'm gonna say I can take BLM from 41-43, and be ambitious and go for ARM to 50 too.

Maybe even catch a Titanic Sawfish!

Nothing set in stone. I might try getting a few levels on bard (38) or marauder (25), but no other real goals. Mostly just the usual crafting, dailies, seeing if anyone else in the FC is doing something fun I want in on, etc.

I'm trying a new strategy this week.

I'm not going to say cap soldiery cuz that's just a given. It too easy not too. The real goal is to get SE to give me backs the 825 I spent in the wrong thing lol.

Otherwise I'm going to do some turn 5 practice with my FC tonight if theres enough people left to go and for the rest of the weekend I'm going to just not even set a goal. May spend the time working on stuff other people need help with. May not even log in.

There's a Hollywood costume exhibit at the Phoenix Art Museum so I'm doing that.

My last day at my old job was today so I'll be having my wife shave my head and be looking for a place to get a straight razor shave for the face so I'm all pretty for the new job I'm starting Monday.

Start packing for my Alaska cruise at the end of the month!! (11 yr anniversary)

Infamous second son is on it's way from gamefly so I'm looking forward to trying that out too if it gets here by tomorrow.

Oh and maybe go see Neighbors.

1. Continue my BRD leveling.
2. Work on getting FSH, MIN, and BTN higher.
3. Keep grinding GC seals.
4. Keep grinding FC ranks so we can finally buy our house.

BLM 41-43: Check
Titanic Sawfish: Check (turns out you just need to use level 1 lugworms since it's a double mooch)
ARM got to 45 because I spent a lot of time in Halitali and TotoRak baby mode with ACN and MRD when I wasn't expecting to. I'm rather alarmed that I'm apparently a better tank AND a better black mage than I am a healer. I'm hoping that when I get SCH in three levels that I'll fall in love with healing again. As it is, I'm staring down the long abyss of possibly having to take WAR to 50 and deal with all the neverending rat race of gear for a tank. But it's fun, and I didn't expect it to be that way.

Healer is by far the toughest role in the game, especially considering your routine is different every time you do the same instance (because you never know who's going to miss a dodge, or lag, or die, etc. etc.). You have to keep yourself and everyone else alive at the same time, so getting your priorities right on the fly is essential. If you can do well at that, every other role is trivial.

Lets see in the last week:
- Clear turn 5
- I've cleared Titan EX a few times but this week was the best!
- Leatherworker is now level 50
- Goldsmith is now level 50
- Melded my own Botanist enough to get fragrant logs

Hopes for the next week:
- Progress in 2nd coil (Turn 6)
- Clear Ifrit Ex
- Work on Leviathan Ex
- Tomes, all the tomes
- Finish 2nd relic book and buy 3rd

I'm going to let my rested bonus and Guildleve allowance rebuild after leveling weaver, leatherworker and goldsmith to 50 in the last 2 weeks. Also need to replenish my Grand Company Seals.

So, this week, my girlfriend pinned me down to watch the entirety of Firefly, so my game accomplishments are at a minimal. We're also at a standstill trying to clear Titan Ex and Turn 5. Too much lag for some of our members.

I did, however, get the Atma of the Maiden which has been eluding me for four weeks. So now I am down to 3 Atma's left for my spear upgrade. Then onto books x.x.

Hmm my goals were:

-Get MNK to 50 on Hitome (complete)
-Cap soldiery on both characters (didn't get Hito Yu)
-Farm myth gear for MNK on Hitome (semi-complete)

But we also downed turn 9 for the first time and I did it on BLM: a job people tend to think sucks in coil. Was kind of nice to prove them wrong. This past month and a half has been brutal. Glad that is done.

Have a great week.

- Bought 4th book for paladin, about halfway done with it.
- Capped materia, bought hat for blm. Slowly but surely.
- Ran some T1 with bard, got gloves and bracelet, so I'm done there. Also bought ilvl 90 crafted boots and chest when people got desperate to sell among increased competition. Dropped a combined million for both, but it was worth it since I was in darklight before.
- Kept my retainers going pretty regularly, trading in stuff for seals pretty regularly.
- Still working on getting a glazenut seed. Making another apricot so I can keep the cycle going.
- Finally got the achievement where your five II materia turn into a III, and then it happened again immediately afterwards. Hasn't happened since. RNG.

But no big battles... Couldn't get to the PS4 this weekend. Slowly figuring out the vita. I'm confidant that I can run anything on the little handheld hand cramper, as long as I am bard or blm.

It's not the weekend but I didn't want to make a new thread just to say this.

MASTER OF THE HAND GET

Now I just need to get BLM and SCH to 50 for Master of Magic :D

Hope this clears up!

After taking some time away, I found myself looking forward to Tuesday this week. As expected, the PF was littered with T6 pick-up-groups. Good times. I joined 2 groups and worked on T6 with them. Glad that I am no longer the holder-backer of the groups. Much improvement was made by all. The content was fun even with no wins. As time goes on, the new coils are becoming more and more accessible to the average players.

Later, at Levi, a Mirror dropped and I rolled a 9. Booo!

So I have a new theory for FF enjoyment, which is to only participate in the content I find fun, and ignore anything that feels like work.

I think someone suggested that very strategy back on page 1 of the 5,000+ post Atma thread.

I decided to swear off dungeon running for a week and to take up my old craft from FFXI: the official LS Cook.

I blew through level 16 or so in a few hours before hitting a brick wall at the AH ingredients recipes. I burned through my gil (~90k left after buying a Cashmere hat of casting last week) and pushed it to lvl 24 through leves. Down to only 10k, I decided to go unlock Botanist and give it a try.

I am an ADDICT. Smiley: lol I spent about 9 hours straight levelling BTN. I completed every log through level 20 in every zone, did the first four class quests, and farmed me up 99-stacks of snails, ash logs, Lavender, and tons of other stuff. I was picky about what I farmed in bulk and closed the day back up to 79k with whole piles of good stuff still on the MB for sale.

I've even got my FC filtered off my chat. Just me and the trees, man!

Yep I pretty much gave up on progressing too.

It's silly how much more fun I had tanking low level dungeons as WHM or helping a small FC get some of their members relics.

My new job is going to make it so that I can only do 1 run a week with my FC so I've pretty much made peace with the fact that I'll probably never get farther than where I am at level 50. So yeah unless I'm having fun I'm not gonna bother. And now that may even turn into why bother at all lol

Sorry for all the edits. New job = new internet filters. No more posting at work either so it's all on the phone.

Ever consider editing the OP and change the dates in title to use the same thread for this weekend?

A Floating Minnow lure should work too, since it's below the level of anything but the Merlthor Goby at this location. That's what I started using once I ran out of Lugworms. It certainly pulls in the Gobies, but my double mooches have been miserable so far. I think I've spent about 5 hours on it so far, with fully materia'd AF and HQ Stuffed Artichoke. If only Silver Sharks were a money fish, I'd be in heaven...

I've heard the way to do it is targ the sharks so you only need a single mooch.

Iron jig I think??
