are they destroying the economy like some have predicted? I have not been able to play for 2 weeks now due to my computer dying. So any insight would be nice.

Thanks,

What economy was there to destroy?

Economy actually seems to be picking up again.

The patch has brought all kinds of things to spend money on, and also increased roulette bonuses are pumping money into the economy, as well. Also, many FCs have their houses by now. Time will tell whether the economy is really up and running again, but the indicators seem good.

For now theres a demand for the new crafting mats and items. So if you want to make some cash nows your chance.

They are also pumping gil into tank jobs. They raised the amount of gil for adventurer in need in the duty roulette rather durastically. Just doing my roulettes i made 150k in 4 days. Its 4500 gil per dungeon + the regular gil amount + gil drops. Its about 10k per day per roulette. Possibly more. Since the adventurer in need is usually tanks, this may give people more incentive to level a tank job.

I'm going to miss this train. My new PC most likely will not be here till next week.

/sigh

Also my OP was about how folks though the retainers where going to get/venture super rare items to sale on the markets and that those without 4 retainers where going to fall behind.

With the refund since we decided to get a small house (basements are so big!), I have over a million gil again.

I wish there was a video game investment fund or some such I could just dump my money in and watch it grow. Smiley: lol

This. I go to official forums and laugh at all the idiots who said ventures will create such a huge imblance SE will kill off FFXIV with it all because they don't want to pay $2 for an extra retainer.

Wonder what economy was destroyed? Sarga has an absolute **** economy (and anyone who denies it more than likely doesn't even utilize it), Excalibur and Phoenix does as well. The one good is if you're too lazy you can get a ton of shards pretty decently while you're off capping your tomes. The expendition or w/e it's called is nice for leveling and mine keep bringing back pieces of someone's house and robbing them in the process. Got a Roof and Allagan Gold Pieces x2.

Are you on Sarga? That's where I'm at! What's your in-game name if you are?

And yeah, the economy was pretty much crap. There was really nothing for the average player to spend money on, and everyone was saving for housing. The silver lining is that making gil in this game is pretty easy... and with no reason to spend anything, it's easy to accumulate gil for later. I've got close to 1.5 million gil on me now, and that's after paying about half the cost of my FC's small house... and I'm far from being a hardcore crafter or anything like that. Usually, the only thing I craft are rings/jewelry to spiritbond with.

Kanikou Escaflowne and pretty much, it's what I did in 1.0 too since SBing (especially currently) is the one market not completely floored as people need to hit an insanely high cap for DoL/DoH new stuff, even with the new tools you need some insane melds.

I haven't sold anything on the MB in about a month, and don't really care... I hover around 600k and can't even imagine what I'd need money for...

Ya, I've been hovering around 40k since we bought our house and haven't worried about it at all. Can make the foods and doing any FATEs or a dungeon or two covers repairs.

I don't remember the last time I did something with the intention of making gil from doing it. It doesn't seem to matter when there really isn't anything to buy. I make more than enough from dungeons, treasure maps, and selling off materials I don't need from crafting low level gear for myself to cover repairs and transport. Even on the rare occasion that I do spend some money, like last month when I bought out the MB of certain materias for my crafting accessories, I still end up making it back fairly quickly.

My retainers have been bringing me fish and furniture quite a few times last night and then I get a Darksteel Chain Coif HQ and ilevel 70 pvp pants today. Since my main is a DRG, I put the Darksteel item on the market. I like what these retainers can do so far =P

I noticed they give quite a bit of exp for finding stuff like that, each of them got about 23k exp for a quick (1hour) venture. Both are miners level 18.

I love sending my 2 retainers out on ventures. They always bring me Allagan pieces. Love em! These pieces covers the cost of repairing my gear. ^.^

One thing that I have noticed about designating a retainer as a FSH is that a FSH retainer will only catch fish that can be used as crafting materials, at least as far as I have mine leveled at this point (the low 20s).

I'm hoping this means I can have her catch hammerhead sharks once she gets to about lvl 29, as I've been having an increased need for shark oil. The other ingredient in that is a silver shark, but as those that have been trying to catch a titanic sawfish can attest, there's plenty of those to be had as of late.

Hey Kat... (hint hint) black soot dye. Seriously. Mine the gray soot that makes it. 1000 gil a pop. Glamours need dyes =). Went from 1.2 to 2 million over the weekend.

But my retainers are level 23 now (well three of them). My botanist is stuck at 16 since it wont let me progress 5 levels below my own (im at 21). I send her off on the random gathering ones that I heard have been bringing back level 11 retainers with level 70 gryphonskin rings and rare 3 star materials (think this was a bug they have since ninja repaired). But the others are at the point where my miner is grabbing me 15 alumen per run to make leather (yaaaaaaaay!) and my marauder and arcanist are draggin home hq aldgoat skins. I think that if I stick to this there is substantial profit to be made, but the prices on certain venturable goods have reached the masses.
