I've got some information to answer those burning questions for you folks stuck at work. I tagged spoilers in case you don't want to know about certain things.

Philosophy to Myth conversion rate: Approximately 4 philosophy per 1 myth

Zodiac Upgrade format: 12 FATEs each in a different area, where you need to kill an enemy to get an item, then you bring all 12 back to the new alchemist by Gerolt and he will give you the second half of the quest. I checked out a few areas, surprise surprise, the FATEs were not spawned

I got a lot done this morning. Unlocked all glamours, promptly spent 750k and bought up and cornered the market on items used to make glamours, and all the items used to make those items (velveteen cloth, steel ingot, silver ingot, growth formula gamma, toad leather walnut lumber, etc), plus I now own nearly every purified water in existance. I promptly made back 250k with about 2 or 3 million left for sale, leveled both retainers to 5, realized that to buy a ilvl 70 crafter tool in Mor Dhona is going to cost a damn fortune (5 hq vanya cloth? 5 HQ darksteel ingots? 5 HQ Hard Hyppogryff Leather? WTH?), listened to other people beat diabolos in ls chat (something about marking doors with waypoints so you can hide from one of his attacks), traded in my philosophy tomes, and stored all my crap in the armoire (finally).

Confirmed that equipping your retainer removes the item from your inventory (and your retianer's completely) so it effectively adds 10 or so slots to your total inventory. Equipping your retainer is a blast! They start at level 1 so you so have to either buy or figure out where to get a weathered level 1 weapon or they will not do out on a quest. They need the weapon equipped for that. Also said weapon or armor MUST be in your Armoury, the items will not equip onto your retainer from yoru inventory or theirs. I got lucky and found my weapon in the auction house, but there were not many left. I equipped then with standard level 1 clothing you start the game in and I am so happy about that becuase I hated that stupid maid and bulter red and blue crud they put them in originally. I just hit level 5 with both so finally I can equip them with something decent (when I get off of work). I set up arcanist and marauder and will be setting up a botanist on my third as soon as I can get over to the mog station (I need that inventory space and 20 ah slots!) - Edit - You can hire two extra retainers for $4 a month, for 4 total retainers. Did not know that. Will likely set up miner as my fourth.

And finally, I covered up my ugly quaker looking patrician's shoes with some raptor leather boot appearance. Beautiful.

Did not get my guy a haircut yet. Darn work schedule making me work on Thursdays =(. But I'm glad I woke up at 3:30, I needed to make gil this morning and take advantage of the situation, the rest can wait. We will see if it works =)

How did your morning go?

Yeah, I like many others first thing this morning allowed a few people to make some gil... Just got hit hard by my retainer though when I assigned her to fishing... Only to find out you can't have them run ventures for items you haven't gathered yet...

So much for having a fishing bot because I hate fishing...

Oh, also did not know that. Thankfully you can reset the job to something else before it becomes a big problem.

Under thsoe pretenses, I wonder how they are going to allow them to gather the venture only items since you obviously can't gather those yourself.

any word on how to get the oil/sands of time?

Also if doing all the fates gets you the 100 zodiacs weapon then the does doing the 4 tomes available get you the il110 version of the zodiac weapon or would you have to wait til all 9 tomes are released before you can get il110 zodiac?... it wouldnt make sense to have the il110 zodiac listed/in the patch if they were unobtainable until next patch.

The master crafting books cost items, and 5 HQ versions of the really expensive ones. For instance, the master weaver book costs 5 HQ Vanya Silk, and the last one sold on our server went for nearly 200k. So 1 million gil per book =/ Hopefully the cost will go down as more and more people keep getting the potash, animal fat, peacock ore etc from the new dungeons.

The glamour books are 3000 gil per crafting job, btw.

I finally got a relic weapon for my white mage character by clearing Titan HM (yeah, I know, I know).

The Echo mechanics are in place. Whenever you wipe, you'll start again with a 10% boost to health, damage, and healing rate, and you get another 10% boost with every wipe until you reach 50%.

The fight itself is the same as always, and if people get sloppy dodging plumes or falling over the edge, it's still a lost cause. However, I think the boost itself gives people enough hope to try again since people tended to give up quickly pre-patch, and we actually wiped 5 times to get the 50% without anyone leaving (by that time there was only 15 minutes remaining).

The biggest problem was keeping everyone on the platform long enough to defeat the heart. But on the last try, even though the summoner fell off during the heart phase, the boost gave us enough damage to defeat it. The rest went a bit easier, especially since plumes weren't one shotting laggards, and my healing boost brought people back from near death a lot faster.

Overall, I'd say it's a decent improvement, especially if you're looking to complete the event for a relic weapon, and you need the clear.

I'm glad Titan HM is a little easier now.

With fights I've been in (especially in the DF), usually the big problem I've encountered is people dying from tumult in the final stage of the fight. Seems that the echo buffs would largely negate that threat as long as people are decently geared and the healers aren't sleeping.

This has to help a lot with mountain buster, too, although my i86 paladin can pretty much eat mountain busters without any real danger for much of that fight.

Those items (potash, etc.) can also be bought with Grand Company seals now. 2500 per, though. So start doing those supply missions, I say! You now get 200% seals for turning in an HQ instead of 150%.
